Saying goodbyes is the hardest. Have you ever had to say goodbye to a loved one as a result of leaving due to the loss of that person? It usually isn't easy, especially with the former.
I don't know if there's a time frame that one can use to gauge how long the pain of losing a loved one should still hurt, as it isn't really easy. One minute, you feel like you're stronger, you're doing okay, and then a little trigger comes and riles you up, and then you feel like you're back to square one, and leaving square one again becomes pretty difficult.
I have learned that saying goodbye doesn't just happen at once, it spans over a period of time, there's a time when the loss is still fresh when you're still trying to come to terms with what has just happened, and then there's period when you begin to accept the reality of your loss, after that it gets to the point where you learn to begin to live your life without the presence of this person.
The healing process may take long but as they say, time heals everything, be rest assured that you will be fine at the end of the day.
This month of August is a bittersweet month for me and my family. In this month, we lost our mum, but God also blessed us with the most adorable brother one could ever have; see why I say it's bittersweet.
A few days ago was my brother's birthday, I was so happy about the gift of him coming into our lives, how far he has come, and the fine young man he is turning out to be, but on the other hand I was also a bit emotional that my mum isn't here to see what he is becoming, the boy child that she longed so much to get is right here.
I thought about the whole situation and tried as much as possible not to open old wounds again.
You were an angel in the shape of my mum
I was listening to Supermarket Flower by Ed Sheeran, and memories of my mum just flooded me as I could relate to the song; I read that the song was a tribute to his grandmother, who stood in as his mother.
While listening, I thought about how some of us don't even think about how we live our lives. Are we living a life that when we're gone, our loved ones and people around us will be proud of the kind of life we lived and have stories to tell and beautiful memories to share? This song inspires me to live my life to the fullest and impact as many lives as much as I can so that when I leave, my legacy can be left behind, so that I won't be remembered for the troubles I caused but for the lives I touched while still around.
The question we all have to ask ourselves every day is, “What will I be remembered for?” “Have I impacted anybody’s life?”
We all should live the best life that we can at all cost
The songwriter talked about how when his grandma goes to heaven God would welcome her and be pleased for the life she lived
Supermarket Flower is a song that resonates with anyone who has lost a loved one at one point or the other in their lives.
