Yes, Nazis were (part of it) socialist. But not as the soviet socialism (communism). They used to have this view of working class part of the society (german, of course) where they needed to be support their interests. And, if you search close enough, you will find policy (nazi's policies) about being entirely paternalist and autoritarian as well. They (also) understood the communism as a plage, as an enemy but Hitler read Marx, and Goebbels too. They knew that it will be useful to divide the entire german society and they did it.
