Inside is a platform game combining puzzle and side scrolling genres. Created by the Playdead software house who are already known in the Gamer environment for having created a classic game from the Indie scene such as Limbo, which managed to be a revolution and a best seller. Six years later they do not present Inside a multiplatform game launched on the market in 2016 and characterized by taking that formula started by its predecessor and using 2.5D features, a game that can be considered a masterpiece for taking elements as simple as opaque colors, absence of sounds and few dialogues to achieve immerse the player in the game.
STORY
Inside, like Limbo, does not present a further explanation of the plot, from the beginning our nameless protagonist is the victim of a persecution, we do not know who the people who harass us or the reasons that lead them to carry it out, however, our mission is evade it at all costs. Inside decides to take us her story through the visual section seeking to transmit a variety of feelings such as the anguish, despair and tension that we will feel in the persecutions that we will experience or in the different challenges that are presented to us. Inside seeks to tell its story through the interactions that take place in the game, the decisions we make and everything we perceive from our environment.
GAMEPLAY
Inside the game we can only advance in a linear way, the game presents elements developed in three dimensions however we can only interact with objects shaped in 2D. In Inside, our character must go through a set of scenarios, in which we can find a series of puzzles, traps, blocks on the way. The puzzles that the game presents us, although they are entertaining, do not represent a greater degree of complexity. Limbo is a game that within its dynamics will lead us to die several times within the game so we must think analytically to anticipate the situations that may arise.
GRAPHIC SECTION
In the graphic section, Inside was designed with the Unity environment, it is a game that uses a 2.5D environment in which we will have linear movements with the strength that we can interact with objects that have other dimensions. It differs from its predecessor by using very opaque colors, it is not strictly black and white; Although not for this we are facing a game that presents a lot of illumination. All the settings and characters in the game are designed in a minimalist way, but at the same time they have great details, which means that nothing goes unnoticed.
SOUND
Inside, as well as in the graphic section, it does not seek to recreate complex scenarios and, as in its history, it does not present great dialogues or explanations; in the sound section it has fair and precise melodies, we will not find dialogues, the soundtrack that accompanies us on our journey is there but it is not invasive, it is very subtle so much that we can make it go unnoticed. Regarding the setting, the sounds are well cared for, because we can find a large number of sounds that remind us that we are still alive and playing, the crunches, blows, drops of blood, among others, appear at the right time.
CONCLUSIONS
Inside presents an excellent graphic section that knows how to keep our attention there in each place, in addition to this it presents a set of puzzles that, although they do not represent greater difficulty, will undoubtedly keep us entertained. This is a game that reinvents what we already knew in Limbo with a suggestive plot and that addresses atypical themes of video games, Highly recommended, I hope you can play it and enjoy it as much as I do.
