Jade update: i have a polisher now!
This rock is from near the boston bar first nations in british columbia. It was sanded by hand for perhaps 4 hours in total (100 grit sandpaper down to a 3000 grit) and the polished with a rotary tool.

More Fraser Canyon Nephrite
Nephrite is jade of the variety found in china and new zealand, while jadite is the rarer type currently only found in Myanmar. I collect my stones from the banks of the fraser river in british columbia.
