These days I was looking for a new series to watch and I saw it was available, Normal People, an Irish series directed by Lenny Abrahamson by Hettie Macdonald. The same is from 2020, the truth is that I do not know how I could not see him before, I always saw it on the internet that recommended it, but I never encouraged me, but luckily, you can see it and the day I bring you what is my personal opinion, which as always is according to lived experience and not a professional criticism.
En estos d铆as estuvo buscando una nueva serie para ver y vi que estaba disponible, Normal People, una serie irlandesa dirigida por Lenny Abrahamson por Hettie Macdonald. La misma es de 2020, la verdad es que no s茅 c贸mo no le pude ver antes, siempre la ve铆a por internet que la recomendaban, pero nunca me anim茅, pero por suerte, la puede ver y el d铆a les traigo lo que es mi opini贸n personal, que como siempre es de acuerdo a la experiencia vivida y no una cr铆tica profesional.
The series consists of 12 chapters, where each one has a duration of between 20 and 30 minutes. It is the first time I see a TV series where the chapters are short, so it is considered a miniseries, but the truth is that I loved it, because everything was going to the concrete that wanted to tell and not filled with many meaningless scenes. Many may think that in this time they did not give a good development to all the personalities, but the reality is always that every detail that as a viewer should know was told. I liked the series so much that I wanted to see more and I was left wanting a second season, the ending was open and could be realized, although in the end it was not, a real shame.
La serie consta de 12 cap铆tulos, donde cada uno tiene una duraci贸n de entre 20 y 30 minutos. Es la primera vez que veo una serie de TV donde los cap铆tulos son cortos, por lo cual es considera una miniserie, pero la verdad es que me encant贸, ya que todo iba a lo concreto que se quer铆a contar y no llena con muchas escenas sin sentido. Muchos pueden pensar que en este tiempo no se le daba un buen desarrollo a todos los personales, pero la realidad es siempre que se cont贸 cada detalle que como espectador se deb铆a conocer. La serie me gust贸 tanto que quer铆a ver m谩s y me qued茅 con ganas de una segunda temporada, el final fue abierto y se pudo realizar, aunque al final no fue as铆, una verdadera l谩stima.
This production is based on the novel written by Sally Rooney, titled with the same name as this miniseries. This story did not have a second part, since it was not continued, although the author commented on how the story continued after the end of this first installment. I must say that the ending was not as expected and the main reason is not that it was bad, on the contrary, it was something different from what we usually see in most romance stories. The drama is present in the miniseries, from beginning to end, and when we think that everything is going to a happy ending, something happens with the love story told by Normal People.

Esta historia no tuvo una segunda parte, ya que est谩 no continuo, aunque la autora coment贸 como segu铆a la historia, luego de la finalizaci贸n de esta primera entrega. Debo decir que el final no fue el esperado y la raz贸n principal no es que haya sido malo, al contrario, fue algo distinto de lo que solemos ver en las mayor铆as de las historias de romance. El drama est谩 presente en la miniserie, de principio a fin, y es que cuando creemos que todo va para un final feliz, pues algo pasa con la historia de amor que cuenta Normal People.
Now, what is the plot of the series? It tells the story of the beginning of the romance between Marianne and Connell, two young people who are very different, but I share something in itself, which is the security that both have and this is demonstrated in every scene we see in the miniseries. The truth is that in this series we see many things that lovers of the genre may like, such as romance, drama and quite hot scenes that will blow the imagination of all the public, so it is not suitable for all audiences. Normal People has no waste, a series that is worth it from beginning to end, it has its details in the plot, but overall it is quite good, even has a great score in the main pages that review series and movies.
Ahora bien, 驴Cu谩l es la trama de la serie? Nos cuenta la historia del comienzo del romance entre Marianne y Connell, dos j贸venes que son muy distintos, pero comparto algo en s铆, que es la seguridad que tiene ambos y esto queda demostrado en cada escena que vemos de la miniserie. La verdad es que en esta serie vemos muchas cosas que les pueden gustar a los amantes del g茅nero, como es el romance, el drama y escenas bastante calientes que har谩 volar la imaginaci贸n de todos el p煤blico, por lo cual no es apto para todo p煤blico. Normal People no tiene desperdicio, una serie que vale la pena de principio a fin, tiene sus detalles en la trama, pero en general est谩 bastante, incluso tiene una gran puntuaci贸n en las principales p谩ginas que hacen revisi贸n de series y pel铆culas.
One of our main characters is Marianne, a girl who is from a family that has all the comforts, she is intelligent, but has a rather difficult personality, as she is very rebellious and all because of how she is treated by her family. She is a really good girl, but she has been through a lot, she is humiliated by her mother and mainly her older brother, which is why she acts in the aforementioned way. This character is portrayed by Daisy Edgar-Jones, a British actress, who does it really well, the character fits her and everything she wants to convey to the viewers, goes beyond the screen and the audience can grasp it very easily. I think the character could not be anyone else's, Daisy does it very well, at least it is a personal opinion.
Uno de nuestros personajes principales es Marianne, una chica que es de una familia que posee todas las comodidades, es inteligente, pero tiene una personalidad bastante dif铆cil, ya que es muy rebelde y todo por como es tratada por su familia. Es una chica realmente buena, pero que ha pasado por mucho, es humillada por su madre y principalmente su hermano mayor, por lo cual act煤a de la forma ya mencionada. Este personaje es representado por Daisy Edgar-Jones, una actriz brit谩nica, que lo hace realmente bien, el personaje le queda y es que todo lo que quiere transmitir a los espectadores, traspasa la pantalla y el p煤blico lo puede captar muy f谩cilmente. Creo que el personaje no podr铆a ser de otra persona, Daisy lo hace muy bien, al menos es una opini贸n personal.
Then we have Connell Waldron, a boy who is quite intelligent, well liked by the whole school, he is even considered a popular young man, but the reality is that he is also quite insecure. The latter makes the plot take an unexpected turn, because despite being deeply in love with Marianne, he doesn't accept it so easily, he doubts a lot about his feelings, so he does things he may regret in the end. Paul Mescal, Irish actor, is the one who plays the role of Connell, he plays it very well, although I don't think he is at the same level of Daisy Edgar-Jones. What I can say is that you can see the onscreen chemistry of both of them, so the miniseries stands out a lot in the sex scenes we see throughout the 12 chapters.
Luego tenemos a Connell Waldron, un chico que es bastante inteligente, muy querido por toda la escuela, incluso es considerado un joven popular, pero la realidad es que tambi茅n es bastante inseguro. Esto 煤ltimo hace que la trama tome un giro inesperado, porque a pesar de estar enamorado profundamente de Marianne, no lo acepta tan f谩cil, duda mucho de sus sentimientos, por lo cual hace cosas que al final pueda arrepentirse. Paul Mescal, actor irland茅s, es quien hace el papel de Connell, la hace muy bien, aunque no me parece que al mismo nivel de Daisy Edgar-Jones. Lo que s铆 puedo decir es que se ve la qu铆mica en pantalla de ambos, por lo cual la miniserie destaca mucho en las escenas de sexo que vemos a lo largo de los 12 cap铆tulos.
The cast selection was just right, we get to see many more characters, who play an important role in the development of the story and what happens to our main characters in the end. On the other hand, we have what is excellent photography by Suzie Lavelle and Kate McCullough, with wonderful scenery where this love story takes place, which is the city of Sligo and then at Trinity College, located in Dublin. On the other hand, we have what is the soundtrack which is another aspect that we can highlight of the miniseries Normal People, really emotional music and full of many feelings, which will immerse us in the story of this production, full of beautiful moments, but also sad ones that at times can bring tears to our eyes.
La selecci贸n de cast fue el adecuado, podemos ver a muchos m谩s personajes, que juegan un papel importante en el desarrollo de la historia y de lo que al final ocurre con nuestros personajes principales. Por otro lado, tenemos lo que es la fotograf铆a a cargo de Suzie Lavelle y Kate McCullough excelente, con escenarios maravillosos donde se desarrolla esta historia de amor, que es la ciudad de Sligo y luego en la universidad de Trinidad, ubicada en la Dublin. Por otro lado, tenemos lo que es la banda sonora que es otro aspecto que podemos destacar de la miniserie Normal People, m煤sicas realmente emotivas y llenas de muchos sentimientos, que nos sumergir谩n en la historia de esta producci贸n, llena de bonitos momentos, pero tambi茅n de tristes que por momentos nos pueden sacar las l谩grimas.
Normal People is a miniseries worth watching. It has a very touching story, yes it is a romance, but the drama is the most that is present, it is a production that is quite similar to After, although it has a better told story than that movie, what I find most similar is the toxic relationship of the characters, but we know that this can happen in a love story. The ending is another of the points in favor of the miniseries, since it teaches us that people are not always destined to be together, no matter how much they love or care for each other. I did not expect the ending, but it is a positive point of the series, since we can be surprised.
Opini贸n final
Normal People es una miniserie que vale la pena verla. Tiene una historia bastante conmovedora, si es de romance, pero el drama es lo m谩s que est谩 presente, es una producci贸n que se me hace bastante parecida a After, aunque est谩 tiene una historia mejor contada que esa pel铆cula, lo que m谩s se me parece es la relaci贸n t贸xica de los personajes, pero sabemos que esto puede ocurrir en una historia de amor. El final es otro de los puntos a favor de la miniserie, ya que la misma nos ense帽a que no siempre las personas est谩n destinadas a estar juntos, por m谩s que se quieran o amen. El final no me lo esperaba, pero es un punto positivo de la serie, puesto que al nos podemos llegar a sorprender.
The miniseries does not have a second season, I feel that this story could have been used for a second season, but never came out a second free of this story, although the author told what became of Marianne and Connell after what we saw in the series. A plot, cinematography, cast, direction and soundtrack that makes this the best series I have seen of the love and romance genre. If I had to give it a score, it would be 9.5, it has its details but in general everything is very well done and adapted to the novel Normal People.
La miniserie no tiene una segunda temporada, siento que se pudo aprovechar esta historia para una segunda temporada, pero nunca sali贸 un segundo libre de esta historia, aunque si la autora cont贸 que fue de Marianne y Connell luego de lo que vimos en la serie. Una trama, una fotograf铆a, un elenco, una direcci贸n y una banda sonora que hace que esta sea la mejor serie que he visto del g茅nero de amor y romance. Si tendr铆a que colocarle una puntuaci贸n, ser铆a 9.5, tiene sus detalles pero en general todo muy hecho y adaptado a la novela Normal People.
