A lot of you may be really confused about it right now - what's this "keegel" thing.
It's pretty much like bowling, except you have 9 pins and you have a ball without any finger holes, so you have to just hold the hand in your palm and for me it's a lot harder to aim like this - so I guess we can call it 9 pin bowling.
This is the place I played it, it's in Mustamäe Tallinn, and it's called Mustamäe Keegel.
I'll be completely honest, the game is really interesting and the rules are pretty much the same or at least really similar to the ones in bowling. The only thing is that instead of 9 pins you have 10. Keegel also has different game types, the one we played was that everyone had just one shot and then another player throws. The display was pretty difficult to understand but after a while I figured out what was what.
Would I play it again?
No, don't get me wrong the game was fun and all, but there are different strategies how to throw the ball and different size balls so it's pretty confusing. Also the pins have a pretty big space between each other so it's a lot harder to actually hit a "strike" or whatever they call it in this game.
Would you suggest it to others?
Yes, I would. It's a pretty fun activity for the first time with a couple of friends, but you will get bored of it eventually. At least now I can say I have played the game haha.
Any competitions/tournaments in it?
A lot! There was actually an team-based Estonian Championship going on for women. The ladies were throwing like crazy, with different tactics, spinning balls etc. I remember this one lady was just running face first, kneeled up and I thought she is just going to trip any moment but she didn't - that was her strategy of throwing well.
I'm not good at blowing nor keegel, but I'm a lot more comfortable playing bowling because I can aim there better and I know my hand will go straight.
