Muchos cubanos hemos oído hablar de ella, pero no todos tienen la suerte de verla. Es tímida, curiosa y forma parte de nuestra fauna más auténtica.

My neighbor the hutia: an animal that only exists in Cuba
Today I want to share these two photos of a hutia. It is an animal native to Cuba, endemic to our island, and seeing one so close is a blessing.
Many Cubans have heard of it, but not everyone is lucky enough to see one. It is shy, curious, and part of our most authentic wildlife.
A curious fact: the hutia is a large rodent, and it plays an important role in Cuban ecosystems because it helps disperse seeds. It is a living treasure of our island.
