Friends. I had waited on rain for safety concerns. And it rained a lot. But, finally the brush
dried enough to burn. And burn it did as you will see. Huge bonfire. That is what we needed.
Here is a look at what we started with. I had added a little more after this photo was taken.
It started small enough at the beginning.
With three sides of metal. That eliminates a lot of the danger of the fire spreading.
Lots of green grass around the sides.
The fire leaps higher as you can see.
The old blue truck will be moved later. It is junk at this point. It is not mine.
While the fire is burning. I look around at all the work that needs to be done.
I see one brush pile that is near the sinkhole. I will move it soon.
Do you see any work below that need to be done? Ha
Back to our fire. Never leave a fire like this. Always be ready for any sparks
that might fly out of the pile you are burning. Especially in dry conditions.
It continued to burn. I am very familiar with fire. I grew up on a farm where we
would burn a "tobacco bed" every spring. That fire was huge then.
It would be over a hundred feet long and ten to twelve feet wide. Yikes.
While the fire was burning. I had safely parked "big red" in the barn. I don't like ash
falling on the red paint. Ugh on that.
Finally the fire burned down and mostly smoke at this point. It was burning for
quite a long time. Or it seemed to me anyway.
It is getting late in the evening. See the long shadows and the blue sky?
It is such a lovely time to look at the beauty that we can see.
It is now nearly dark. The fire has mostly finished burning the brush. It is so pretty to look at now.
That finishes our day of bonfire brush burning.
Friends. If you decide to burn some brush Please be careful about the spreading of the fire.
It can get out of control quickly. I have had a lot of experience in burning brush over the years.
Even I can get a surprise at times. The flames will leap up much higher than we might think.
There is so much more work to be done on the land. But I enjoy seeing the land being
cleared and the fences to be built. It can be a lovely place that anyone would like to see.
That is my goal. To add value and have a place that is beautiful to look at.
