To start the year off on the right foot I have prepared a review of a series that premiered in mid-October and which some time later I had the opportunity to enjoy because of how comfortable its format is and how well structured it is. The catalog of Netflix and other platforms is full of content made in Spain, especially after so many successful productions such as Money Heist and Cable Girls.
Precisely Cable Girls is starred by the protagonist, creator and writer of the series that I present to you today Nadia de Santiago, directed and co-written by In茅s Pintor Sierra and Pablo Santidri谩n who were in charge of giving magic to a project that deals with a somewhat simple topic such as love breakups and all that entails.
Love relationships are difficult, you have to have a little bit of everything, patience, tolerance, respect, understanding, empathy, loyalty and a bit of common sense and in all this the leading couple portrays it to perfection with the help of the male protagonist Alvaro Cervantes who we had already enjoyed in "Three Steps Above Heaven". Armed with an impeccable chemistry and a formula that could be thought to be quite worn out, they make a totally new product in a very tempting format.
The Time It Takes was filmed almost in short film format, something in which Nadia de Santiago has a lot of experience, two young figures play an opposing couple and their experiences in each of the stages of their relationship. The format itself catches you from the first moment, so the series becomes entertaining without making much effort, maybe it will not become the great bet of Netflix but I do believe that it is so far the best that this company has done in the motherland.

Para comenzar el a帽o con buen pie les he preparado una rese帽a de una serie que se estren贸 a mediados de octubre y qu茅 tiempo despu茅s tuve la oportunidad de disfrutar por lo c贸modo que es su formato y lo bien estructurada que est谩. El cat谩logo de Netflix y otras plataformas est谩 repleto de contenido hecho en Espa帽a sobre todo luego de tantas producciones exitosas como La Casa de Papel y Las Chicas del Cable.
Precisamente Las Chicas del Cable es protagonizada por la protagonista, creadora y escritora de la serie que hoy les presento Nadia de Santiago, dirigida y co-escrita por In茅s Pintor Sierra y Pablo Santidri谩n quienes se encargaron de darle magia a un proyecto que trata de un tema un poco simple como lo son las rupturas amorosas y todo lo que eso conlleva.
Las relaciones amorosas son dif铆ciles, hay que tener de todo un poco, paciencia, tolerancia, respeto, comprensi贸n, empat铆a, lealtad y un poco de sentido com煤n y en todo eso la pareja protag贸nica lo retrata a la perfecci贸n con ayuda del protagonista masculino 脕lvaro Cervantes a quien ya hab铆amos podido disfrutar en "A tres metros sobre el Cielo". Armados de una qu铆mica impecable y con una f贸rmula que podr铆a pensarse est谩 bastante desgastada hacen un producto totalmente nuevo en un formato bastante tentador.
El Tiempo que te doy fue grabada casi que en formato de cortometraje, algo en lo que Nadia de Santiago tiene mucha experiencia, dos j贸venes figuras interpretan una pareja contrapuesta y sus vivencias en cada una de las etapas de su relaci贸n. El formato en si te atrapa desde el primer momento, por lo que la serie se vuelve entretenida sin hacer mucho esfuerzo, quiz谩s no se convierta en la gran apuesta de Netflix pero s铆 creo que es hasta ahora lo mejor que ha hecho esta empresa en la madre patria.
Lina (Nadia de Santiago) is an aspiring nurse who to pay for her studies works nights at a resort as a housekeeper, it is on one of those nights that she meets Nico (Alvaro Cervantes) a rebellious boy who makes his living as a diver. The story is about the development of their relationship and how the protagonist moves on after the breakup.
In the first episode, we have the breakup. Nico tells Lina that he doesn't feel anything for her anymore and she is tired doesn't answer anything but Nico keeps insisting and asks her if she wants him to tell her that she has wasted those last nine years of life they have shared. At this question, Lina flinches and remembers the day they met.
That day alone, they were under the moonlight while he invites her for a coffee and helps her clean up around the pool, they exchange dreams and plans for their life projects. Along the way Nico knows perfectly well how to get intimate with her and tries to figure out why Lina has never tried diving; as they spend the evening hours together, sneaking cereal in the kitchen and getting to know each other a little better, they begin a torrid romance that leads them to challenge each other. As the dawn sun rises, she and he are united by a love that will only have time as its witness.
Lina (Nadia de Santiago) es una aspirante a enfermera que para pagarse los estudios trabaja en las noches en un complejo tur铆stico como ama de llaves, es en una de esas noches que conoce a Nico (脕lvaro Cervantes) un chico rebelde que se gana la vida como buzo. La historia trata acerca del desarrollo de la relaci贸n de ambos y c贸mo la protagonista sigue adelante tras la ruptura.
En el primer episodio, tenemos la ruptura. Nico le dice a Lina que ya no siente nada por ella y est谩 cansada no responde nada pero Nico sigue insistiendo y le pregunta si quiere que le diga que ha desperdiciado esos 煤ltimos nueve a帽os de vida que han compartido. Ante esta pregunta, Lina se inmuta y recuerda el d铆a en que se conocieron.
Ese d铆a solos, estaban bajo la luz de la luna mientras 茅l la invitaba a tomar un caf茅 y la ayuda a limpiar los alrededores de la piscina ambos intercambian sue帽os y planes para sus proyectos de vida. Por el camino Nico sabe perfectamente como intimar con ella e intenta descubrir por qu茅 Lina nunca ha intentado bucear; mientras pasan las horas de la noche juntos, comiendo cereales en la cocina a hurtadillas y conoci茅ndose un poco m谩s, comienzan un t贸rrido romance que los lleva a desafiarse el uno al otro. Cuando sale el sol del amanecer, ella y 茅l est谩n unidos por un amor que solo tendr谩 como testigo al tiempo.
The first thing I must say about **The Time It Takes ** is that both leads are brilliant, each one steals the show in their own way even though the series was designed to give it a female perspective, Alvaro Cervantes also shined in his performance. Nadia de Santiago was great as the creator and as the main character, she had a role in which she shined with a great performance.
It was precisely the experience of this actress making short films that in my opinion allowed me to create the concept of this series. Created with 11-minute chapters that portray the past through the thoughts of the actress, the amount of time spent between the present and the past changes in each episode as the series unfolds, as Lina stays more in the present and thinks less about the past.
However what is its great strength its format, also plays against it when you want to get to know the characters more in depth. This happened with the male character, it was always him, the one to blame for everything and although they knew how to address it I think it also lacked a male perspective.
Lo primero que debo decir de El Tiempo que te doy es que ambos protagonistas est谩n brillantes, cada uno se roba el show a su manera aunque la serie haya sido dise帽ada para darle una perspectiva femenina, Alvaro Cervantes tambi茅n brillo en su interpretaci贸n. Nadia de Santiago estuvo estupenda como creadora y como protagonista, tuvo un papel en el cual brillo con una actuaci贸n estupenda.
Fue precisamente la experiencia de esta actriz haciendo cortometraje lo que a m铆 parecer permiti贸 crear el concepto de esta serie. Creada con cap铆tulos de 11 minutos que retratan el pasado a trav茅s de los pensamientos de la actriz, La cantidad de tiempo que se pasa entre el presente y el pasado va cambiando en cada episodio a medida que la serie se desarrolla, ya que Lina se queda m谩s en el presente y piensa menos en el pasado.
Sin embargo lo que es su gran fuerte su formato, tambi茅n le juega en contra cuando quieres conocer m谩s a fondo a los personajes. Esto ocurri贸 con el personaje masculino, siempre era 茅l, el culpable de todo y aunque supieron abordarlo creo que tambi茅n me hizo falta una perspectiva masculina.
Maybe in a new season they will have to lengthen a little more the duration of each chapter, I would like to know what they both contributed to the relationship because when a relationship ends it is both of their fault.
The experience I lived during the whole series was almost like the one you feel in a play, with simple scenarios that emanated the feeling that surrounded them at every moment. The 2 main characters had a lot of chemistry although when it was Nadia de Santiago acting alone, the chapters seemed more like a bunch of memories of a wounded woman.
But I must admit that it was a great production, that dazzled me and achieved its goal of conveying an exciting cocktail that for me worked and became the best Spanish series that Netflix streaming platform currently has. A great success and that is why I recommend it to you at the beginning of the year.
Quiz谩s en una nueva temporada tengan que alargar un poco m谩s la duraci贸n de cada cap铆tulo, me gustar铆a conocer que aportaron ambos a la relaci贸n porque cuando una relaci贸n termina es culpa de ambos.
La experiencia que viv铆 durante toda la serie fue casi como la que se siente en una obra de teatro, con escenarios sencillos que emanaban el sentimiento que los rodeaba en cada momento. Los 2 personajes principales tuvieron mucha qu铆mica aunque cuando era Nadia de Santiago la que actuaba sola, los cap铆tulos parec铆an m谩s un mont贸n de recuerdos de una mujer herida.
Pero debo admitir que fue una gran producci贸n, que me deslumbr贸 y logr贸 su objetivo de transmitir un c贸ctel emocionante que para m铆 funcion贸 y se convirti贸 en la mejor serie espa帽ola que tiene actualmente la plataforma de streaming Netflix. Un gran acierto y por eso se las recomiendo comenzando el a帽o.
