Whilst I don’t feel like I need to label myself, or anyone else for that matter, I saw this and it made a lot of sense to me.

I’ve never been one to go out just to pick up or go from one person to the next, it really doesn’t appeal or do it for me at all. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I don’t want to or haven’t been there and done it, it’s more the connection than the physical being that I’m looking for.

Through out my teens and twenties, I would sit back and watch all of my close friends take random men home, sleep with them and then spend the next however many days, weeks, months crying over them because they had promised them the world but as soon as the next offer came along, they’d be dropped.

That doesn’t appeal at all. I could always see through the facade my friends put up, the low self esteem and self worth they used meaningless one night stands to mask. For me, I am attracted to personalities, feelings, vibes rather than a pretty face or good body. Something you don’t find out on the town, when everyone’s drinking or dancing up against each other.

So whilst I try and dodge the ‘why are you single?’ and ‘you’re not getting any younger’, I’ll continue to hold out for that connection. Maybe it exists, maybe it doesn’t but in this dating world of tinder and instant gratification, I’d rather be alone figuring myself out until I meet someone who I feel the connection with.
