Often, people will speak of forks/attacks/people on a DPoS blockchain like Steem or Hive. It is especially noticeable when emotions run high. An account will be referred to as him, her, or they. People will talk about what a person did or didn't do to the blockchain. DPoS isn't structured by people, so thinking of it that way will only elevate emotions and push clear-headed thinking right off a cliff!

DPoS is all about stake - how much of the token you control. In the case of Hive, staked Hive is called Hive Power (HP). By having Hive Power, stake holders have a greater say in what occurs on the platform. That doesn't work if we think of it by account. If someone has 10k HP and spreads it across a 10 accounts with 1k HP each, they still only have 10k HP. It's the stake that matters to votes, not the number of accounts that vote

The recent mess that lead to Hive starting in the first place is still contentious among some. There is plenty of name calling and fighting that would probably settle way down if people would talk of stake instead of a person or account. Stake that voted a single entity into multiple witness positions was moved out of it's voting position. It's how DPoS was designed to function.

Accounts were not dropped. There was no way of checking to find out who controlled which accounts - it's perfectly possible that someone used the stake from one account to vote for the takeover and have another account that did not. DPoS has no regard for the "person". It cares about stake

Understanding what stake means to DPoS will greatly assist in how Hive is thought about. It's a critical piece of how this blockchain functions

If you want to test out, go read some of the posts talking about the split between Steem and Hive. Notice how often "account" and "person" are spoken of. Realize how nonsensical that makes the whole situation.

Y'all have good
