Stalking my own emotions

This week I did an exercise quite different than the usual photographic challenges that I am so fond of!
This time I was searching inwards, stalking my own emotions and each day I picked up one of them and tried to take a picture that illustrate it. It is an exercise of concentrating on my inner self on one hand and "translating" what I see in pictures, on the other.
It was a Monday to Friday thing and today I finished it, so I thought to share the results with you, you might find something interesting in it.

I used the wheel of emotions (picture above) to help me be more accurate while I was navigating through my emotions. Each day I started from a general mood picking up the relevant color on the wheel, then specified it on one line and finally grasping the intensity of it.

Monday-Pensiveness

During this week didn't happened any major change in my life or even something remotely intense and yet, my emotional side was full of swings. Is this normal or what?

Tuesday-Apprehension

The thing is that not only every day was different but even during each day there was big differentiation. So I tend to the conclusion that we have a plethora of emotions every day that we never take the time to notice and maybe now, with most of the countries imposing social distancing measures, we are living the perfect set of circumstances to do so.

Wednesday-Serenity

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that I am not the only one having thoughts like that during this time. Maybe this is partly the reason that I am writing this post.

Two days ago I read the following quote written by helgalubevi@helgalubevi.

I feel like the quarantine is one of the best exercises of self-knowledge that I’ve ever been into. Even my four days of silence on a meditation retreat were so strong like that. In eight days, I have felt a lot of emotions and feelings. I still feel that my emotional side is a bit without control, since everyday I feel in a different way.

And yesterday this one by araksa-dragonkey@araksa-dragonkey.

I believe that stalking our own habits, emotional reactions, mood swings, needs, desires, and dissatisfactions is necessary if we want to improve our lives. At times the experience of facing less pleasant aspects of one's mind can be by itself very uncomfortable, disturbing, or outright scary, but it's one of those steps toward greater awareness.

Thursday-Acceptance

At each one of the posts that I mentioned above, although completely different from each other (and from this one), I have found familiar thoughts and conclusions.

After all maybe the best way to use this extra time that has been forced on us is on self-reflection and self awareness. I think it would be mostly beneficial to us but to our loved ones, too!
