One of the most special places that we visited during our camping trip was the small beach "Limnionas" at the island of "Kythera". We stayed there from September 20th till the 22th and it was a totally relaxing and recharging experience! This place is magical on its own but the fact that we visited it out of the high touristic season, definitely helped. It reminded me of Greece as I remember it through my childhood memories. Calm, hospitable, unspoiled. A version of my country that I though it was long gone.
Only a handful of people were coming for a swim during the day and at nights it was just silence and the stars! Those small buildings that look like chapels are made by fishermen many decades ago. Some of them look abandoned while some others have been renovated into summer houses. There is even one listed on airbnb!
@traisto and myself, on the other hand, spent our nights to our tiny camper, but it was more than enough to accommodate us and to enjoy every minute of our stay :)
The name limnionas is associated in Greek with the word limni, witch means lake. And this lovely bay was indeed like a lake when we visited it. The crystal clear water of the sea was so calm and seductive that any other activity other than swimming and lie down on the sand was out of the question. And some cooking in the evening but that's all. Those days I came as close to the lifestyle of a lizard, as I can get :)
All the pictures and the words are mine.
