I still have PTSD of the whole dictionary with codes you get every year. I can only compare them to filing Finnish and Lithuanian taxes but between those 3 Belgium is the worse by a stretch. Hardly possible to understand properly, no one can help you with anything, and if you make a mistake they go for basically everything you got.

They are definitely missing out on taxes because:

• It is too complicated so people just don't file (part of) their taxes
• It feels like they discouraging people from increasing their income
• A lot of people that feel like they hit a wall just leave, taxes filed somewhere else are simply lost

The saddest part is that everything is so complicated that it is beyond repair, and the only way to make up for those lost taxes is on those that stay quiet and nicely pay half of their wage every month
