History
After a decade of research and development, Acura's debut on the market was the start of a bold and spectacular adventure to create a completely new branch and the first Japanese luxury car brand. Other Japanese luxury brands: Lexus - Toyota or Infiniti - Nissan entered the US market right after the presentation of Acura Legend, powered by a V6 engine in two body styles: coupé and sedan and Integry.
In 1989, Acura presented the NSX model - a sports car with rear-wheel drive. NSX, short for "New Sports eXperimental", was announced the first (and perhaps the only) car that could compete with Ferrari and Porsche.
In 1996, the nomenclature of the brand was changed to alphanumeric by introducing the 3.5 RL model to production, which was announced the successor of the Legend model. The engine had a power of 225 hp. Unfortunately, the car did not achieve spectacular success. In 1999, Acura introduced the 3.2 TL model, which was similar to the BMW 5 series. There was also Acura MDX, or luxury SUV.
