CREATING A LEGEND
The legend comes from Karl Abarth's desire to be number one.
Not even 11 years old, young Karl covers the wooden wheels of his scooter with a leather strap so he can ride faster and win with older colleagues from the area.
This story is part of Karl Abarth's DNA, which could not resist the temptation to compete and prosecute, so he took on new challenges and beat new records.
On a motorcycle with a side-car, Karl Abarth challenged the Orient Express train on a 1370 km route from Vienna to Ostend. And he won.
After completing his racing and motorcycle career, in 1949, Karl Abarth and Guido Scagliarini created the Abarth & C company. The first vehicle produced was the 204 A Roadster based on Fiat 1100. He immediately won the 1100 Sport Championship and was successful in Formula 2. Parallel to the races, the company also started the production of tuning kits that improved the performance, power and speed of standard vehicles.
After just a few years, Abarth & C. employed 375 employees and produced about 300,000 exhaust systems annually.

The latest generation of Abarth spider is again available with a hard roof - just like in the 1970s. This is a reference to Abarth's tradition with the use of modern stylistics and technology. Instead of a fixed metal roof, however, a detachable construction made of a more noble material was used.
