snapping turtle
This turtle has a prehistoric look. It has triangular spikes on the top. It is the largest fresh water turtle in Ontario and can be 47 cm.
It's mostly found in slow moving water with soft mud or sand bottom.
Last summer we were driving and saw this turtle on the side of the road, near a bridge. So there was not much space for cars to avoid the turtle.
My stepfather was brave enough to pick up the turtle and move it to a safe place. With brave enough I mean that the turtle can easily bite of fingers from human hands.
