A question that has become much more pressing in recent days;
And this question is directed—either directly or through the authorities’ civil protection agencies—at governments, and specifically at the Venezuelan government: Is the tragedy unfolding across Venezuela not enough to make people like this put a stop to their wickedness, greed, and avarice?
Since this design is aimed at the people of my country, Venezuela, I created the illustration using Spanish typography. And although I know that right now isn’t the time for art—let alone for personal promotion—I’d like to turn this into T-shirts because, in addition to raising social awareness…
But without straying from the main topic. the color scheme for this theme is the focus of this illustration I think I should first explain where this idea came from.
Despite everything that is currently happening in Venezuela, in the areas that were affected far more severely than we were, there is a staggering death toll and a huge number of injured people. In addition to these casualties, there are many rescued children; however, among these rescued children are also girls who went missing after their rescue. Compounding this situation is climate change, which has brought devastating consequences. As if that weren’t enough, humanitarian aid sent from other countries has been held up by the Venezuelan government for a reason that wasn’t evident until the case came to light—namely, the use of hiding places and stockpiles in the affected areas of Caracas and La Guaira. This is why I wonder: where is the heart of a Venezuelan who works for a government or public agency when they halt rescue efforts simply because of an order? And where is the spirit in people’s hearts when they think of stealing and committing crimes while there are still people alive beneath their feet in the rubble, waiting to be rescued?
Now let's just throw all this information to the wind and clear our minds by creating a digital illustration to vent our annoyance and frustration with these damn authorities.
I'm sure you're wondering how the heck I did this well, it's very simple;
EPIK
INSHOT
I don’t think it takes much more than imagination and inspiration. By using a photo of a patrol vehicle commonly seen here in Venezuela—like a Toyota pickup truck—and applying a filter, you can bring out the main lines as if it were a black-and-white illustration.
Then, using a brush in the image editor, you can draw some flames on top of it. But since the drawing looks a bit empty, we switch to the video editor, where we apply a fire effect filter and then some fire-themed stickers to add synchronization to the entire illustration.
Finally, we have the resulting image, and we apply a new filter to it in the InShot app—our video editor— to finish the design.
Here are some collages with screenshots of the process from start to finish.
Many thanks to everyone who has offered their support in one way or another—it’s incredible how every little bit really counts. I hope we continue to bring in more people willing to lend their support.
