The hammer shark does have the strangest head of all sharks.
The eyes of the hammer shark are at the end of the protrusions on their heads. In this way they can see very well as they move their head back and forth. Because the nostrils are far apart on the front of the head, they can better know where a smell comes from. With the protrusions they can capture electrical signals of fish that hide from the seabed.
Sometimes the width of the head may be half of its body length
The hammer shark weighs between 200 and 600 kg. The largest species can be 5 meters long.
