Hi folks,
Today was a little different at work
Started with Confined Space Entry Training in the morning, which went for 5 hours
Then a de-isolation from yesterday on the Activated Carbon dosing pipework
Following that was an information and Q and A session from the company taking over the contract at the start of next financial year
(Lots of context to that one, which I may be able to explain later)
...
Then finally, an isolation on the Fluoride Transfer system, so Jenkins the Mechanical Fitter can replace a couple of o-rings tomorrow
...
Hexafluorosilicic acid
The raw input that is used to fluoridate drinking water
And the source of so many conspiracy theories
...
I've finished my on-call week this month as of today, so tomorrow I'm riding my bike in
Looking forward to that
I'm pretty over work this week though to be honest
Being on-call means working your normal 5 days during one week, then going in both days over the weekend, then also working 5 days of the next week after that
It's a long time to spend at work in one continuous hit
And for 7 of those days you're responsible for the plant after hours, getting woken up multiple times through the night, sometimes having to go in to fix something
Literally at the beck-and-call of a SCADA system
...
But,
Could be worse
...
I would like more time to pursue other interests though
