Un recuerdo aterrador en el avión con la película El Exorcismo de Emily Rose
I introduce myself for the first time with a publication in your community, I recently opened my Hive account and took the #hivefromzero course I'm a Cabin Crew on commercial planes, so as you can imagine, I've seen a lot of movies on long international flights, while I was on duty to be awake, therefore I love this space to tell you my anecdotes, reviews of the movies and series that I have enjoyed during my work.
There is a particular experience that I want to tell you about while I explain my opinions about the movie The Exorcism of Emily Rose from 2005, directed by Scott Derrickson, as you can imagine from its title, it is a pretty strong horror movie, now imagine seeing it in the solitude and silence of the small flight attendant cubicle at the front of a plane in the middle of the ocean.
Me presento por primera vez con una publicación en su comunidad, recientemente abrí mi cuenta en Hive y realicé el curso de #hivedesdecero Yo soy Tripulante de Cabina en aviones comerciales, así que como podrán imaginarse, he visto muchísimas películas en los largos vuelos internacionales, mientras me correspondía la guardia de estar despierta, por la tanto me encanta este espacio para contarles mis anécdotas, reseñas de las películas y series que he disfrutado durante mi trabajo.
Existe una experiencia en particular que quiero comentarles a la vez que les explico mis opiniones sobre la película El Exorcismo de Emily Rose del año 2005, dirigida por Scott Derrickson como se deben imaginar por su título, es una película de terror bastante fuerte, ahora imaginen verla en la soledad y silencio del pequeño cubículo para aeromozas en la parte delantera de un avión en medio del océano.
I know it sounds a bit crazy, but I have always had a special taste for the fear that movies of this type transmit, that is why I always chose to travel with a crew that shared my tastes in terms of cinema to enjoy movies on night flights and stay awake by getting our adrenaline pumping a bit while we ate the occasional snack.
The Exorcism of Emily Rose is a film that can be approached in two visions or two times, it reminds me a lot of a book that I read a long time ago that had the same structure, the first layer that you get today, where the development of a trial of the father who performed the exorcism leads us to learn in-depth many secrets about the church that are not known at first glance, we must not forget that the Vatican is a State and as such, politics also plays a very important role. Important in their activities and above all in preserving their image, which is why seeing a priest accused of manslaughter is not exactly something they like to see in the newspapers, so for the development of the trial they hire a law firm from the shadows. Lawyers to defend him by putting into play the protagonist of this segment of the film who in my opinion did very well, developing a role as a character actress with the impetus of a prominent lawyer capable of everything r managed to rise in her career, so a case like this was very attractive since it would put her name in the newspapers, this role was played by Laura Linney, if you want to know more about her, you can read her profile here Laura Linney while the role of the priest was played by Tom Wilkinson undoubtedly someone who contributed a lot to the plot adding tension, mystery, and curiosity to know the outcome of your future.
Sé que suena un poco alocado, pero siempre he tenido un gusto especial por el miedo que transmiten las películas de este tipo, por eso siempre escogía viajar con una tripulación que compartiera mis gustos en materia de cine para disfrutar de las películas en los vuelos nocturnos y mantenernos despiertas subiendo un poco la adrenalina mientras comíamos uno que otro bocadillo.
El Exorcismo de Emily Rose es una película que se puede abordar en dos visiones o dos tiempos, me recuerda mucho a un libro que leí hace tiempo que tenía la misma estructura, la primera capa con la que te consigues en la actualidad, donde el desarrollo de un juicio al padre que realizó el exorcismo nos lleva a conocer a fondo muchos secretos sobre la iglesia que no se conocen a simple vista, no hay que olvidar que el Vaticano es un Estado y como tal, la política, también juega un papel muy importante en sus actividades y sobre todo en la conservación de su imagen, por eso ver un cura acusado de homicidio imprudencial no es algo que les guste precisamente ver en los periódicos, así que para el desarrollo del juicio contratan desde las sombras a un bufete de abogados para que lo defienda poniendo en juego a la protagonista de este segmento de la película que en mi opinión lo hizo muy bien, desarrollando un papel de actriz de carácter con ímpetus de una prominente abogada capaz de todo por lograr ascender en su carrera por lo que un caso como este era muy atractivo, ya que pondría su nombre en los periódicos, este papel fue interpretado por Laura Linney si quieres conocer más sobre ella puedes leer su ficha aquí Laura Linney mientras que el papel del sacerdote fue interpretado por Tom Wilkinson sin duda alguien que aportó mucho a la trama sumando tensión, misterio y curiosidad por conocer el desenlace de su futuro.
Now, let's talk about the second part or related plot of the film, the one that takes place in the past tense where terror plays a preponderant role, showing very crude and well-executed scenes that I assure you will make your hair stand on end and will make your hair stand on end. That your knees tremble, it's not a joke, it's very strong, especially the part about the historical battles between the devil and the priest.
Something that gave me special fear from the point of view of perception is that this film is based on real events, something to consider since it is a documented fact that attracted the attention of American public opinion for quite some time. The victim was played by actress Jennifer Carpenter, and I must say it was a very well done role, transmitting emotion and making you identify with his suffering during the whole process of possession, this role gave him the MTV Movie Award and I must add that it was what he deserved.
Ahora bien, hablemos de la segunda parte o trama conexa de la película, la que se desarrolla en tiempo pasado donde el terror juega un papel preponderante, mostrándose escenas muy crudas y bien llevadas a cabo que te aseguro, te pondrán los pelos de punta y harán que te tiemblen las rodillas, no es broma, es muy fuerte sobre todo la parte de los históricos combates entre el demonio y el sacerdote.
Algo que me dio especial miedo desde el punto de vista de la percepción es que esta película, está basada en hechos reales, algo a considerar, ya que es un hecho documentado que atrajo la atención de la opinión pública estadounidense por bastante tiempo. La víctima fue interpretada por la actriz Jennifer Carpenter y debo decir fue un papel muy bien logrado transmitiendo emotividad y haciéndote identificarte con su sufrimiento durante todo el proceso de posesión, este papel le otorgó el premio de MTV Movie Award y debo agregar que fue sé lo merecía.
Now, as I told you, this is a film that catches you from its first minutes, which is why I highly recommend it, its electrifying two-stage plot is a masterful play by the writers and director that changes your thoughts abruptly with each turn. Forcing you to remain attentive at all times to the development to understand the events that occur in a whirlwind of mixed emotions and feelings, which even makes you desperate to know the verdict of the trial and the outcome of what happened to poor Emily in time past.
Put yourself in my place for a second, we already had about 5 hours of flight, and we were well into the Pacific Ocean at cruising speed and a considerable height, we had finished our day of attention for the passengers' dinner, the lights of the plane were turned off and all the passengers were asleep, while my friend and I attentively watched the chilling scenes of this heinous demonic possession that perversely destroyed the body of that poor teenager, the tension increased along with the fear, and the air conditioning of this modern aircraft model made you shiver by numbing your legs in the skirt we usually wear as a uniform.
Ahora bien, como les dije, esta es una película que te atrapa desde sus primeros minutos, por lo cual se las recomiendo ampliamente, su trama electrizante en dos tiempos es un juego magistral de los guionistas y director que te cambia los pensamientos abruptamente con cada giro obligándote a mantenerte atento en todo momento al desarrollo para poder entender los eventos que se presentan en un torbellino de emociones y sentimientos encontrados, que te dan incluso desespero por conocer el veredicto del juicio y el desenlace de lo ocurrido con la pobre Emily en el tiempo pasado.
Pónganse en mi lugar por un segundo, ya teníamos alrededor de 5 horas de vuelo y nos encontrábamos bastante adentrados en el océano pacífico a velocidad de crucero y una altura considerable, habíamos finalizado nuestra jornada de atención para la cena de los pasajeros, las luces del avión estaban apagadas y todos los pasajeros dormían, mientras mi amiga y yo veíamos atentamente las escenas escalofriantes de esta posesión demoníaca atroz que destruyó de manera perversa el cuerpo de esa pobre adolescente, la tensión aumentaba junto con el miedo, y el aire acondicionado de este modelo de avión moderno literalmente te hacía temblar entumeciendo tus piernas en la falda que solemos usar como uniforme.
Everything was silent, dark, just the light of some monitors could be seen in the long corridor, between our cubicle and the passengers only a curtain separated us, we arrived at the decisive scene of the film, good and evil face each other in a titanic battle, anxiety fills our mind as we see very terrifying things on the screen, the demon manifests and begins his endless monologue with a cavernous voice and then, the passenger sitting in the first row of seats almost right next to the curtain next to he suddenly wakes up from a nightmare and screams, obviously the two of us also accompany him in the scream, terrified by the movie, waking up almost all the passengers and with an immense shame of what happened, it is something that makes me laugh right now but believe me the real fear exists and not because of the movie but because of the fear that some passenger would report us, and we would be fired, for shouting inside the plane waking up the passengers, fortunately we hid very well and went out with a serious face to attend to the passenger who had shouted first, and the gentleman kindly apologized to everyone, assuming full responsibility for what happened, which made us safe.
But tell me, if you were in my position, and you heard something like that during the climax of tension that this good movie transmits to you, wouldn't you have screamed too?
Todo estaba en silencio, oscuro, apenas la luz de algunos monitores se veían en el largo pasillo, entre nuestro cubículo y los pasajeros solo nos separaba una cortina llegamos a la escena decisiva de la película, el bien y el mal se enfrentan en un una batalla titánica, la ansiedad colma nuestra mente mientras vemos cosas muy aterradoras en la pantalla, el demonio se manifiesta y empieza su infinito monologo con una voz cavernosa y entonces, el pasajero sentado en la primera fila de asientos casi justo al lado de la cortina junto a nosotros despierta repentinamente de una pesadilla y da un grito, evidentemente nosotras dos también lo acompañamos en el grito aterradas por la película despertando a casi todos los pasajeros y con una inmensa vergüenza de lo ocurrido, es algo que en este momento me da hasta risa pero créanme el miedo real existe y no por la película sino por el temor de que algún pasajero nos reportara y fuéramos despedidas, por gritar dentro del avión despertando a los pasajeros, afortunadamente disimulamos muy bien y salimos con cara seria a atender al pasajero que había gritado de primero y el señor amablemente le pidió disculpas a todos asumiendo enteramente la responsabilidad de lo ocurrido, cosa que nos puso a salvo.
Pero díganme ustedes, si estuvieran en mi posición y escuchan algo así durante el clímax de tensión que esta buena película te trasmite, ¿no hubieran gritado también?
