Splinterlands - "River Hellondale" in the spotlight

Hello Splinterlandians,

today I want to continue my blog series "In The Spotlight", where I explain you all the important stuff about one single card. I will talk about lore and artwork, the stats, the combinations and tactics and I'll show you a battle with the card as an example.

For today I want to talk about River Hellondale, who was introduced with the Chaos Legion set. It is a legendary card from the water splinter, which main characteristics are his magic attack and definitly his Resurrect ability. But let's jump into the details and don't waste time. Lore and Artwork:

River was born and raised in the city and lived on the coast his entire life. The view of the water from his bedroom window sparked his imagination as a child, and the sound of it lulled him to sleep. In time, he trained in water-based elemental magic and became an accomplished mage. When an opportunity came to travel to Praetoria, he couldn't turn it down. Upon his arrival, his natural affinity for helping others landed him a role on New Everitt's town council. He bonded with the town's leader, Bera, and was her trusted confidant in all matters.

River felt particularly helpless when the Creeping Plague came to New Everitt. He could do nothing to help those suffering, but when the Chaos Legion arrived, he took up arms alongside Bera to defend the town he loved.

Stats:

With the cost of seven mana points, River Hellondale is categorized between the mid and high mana section. While the two magic attack is very well, the other raw stats, like speed, armor and health aren't that great for the cost of seven mana points. So you should definitly protect River Hellondale in your lineup. He starts with the Resurrect ability on the first level and later gets the Inspire and Dispel ability. Because of all that things said, River Hellondale is a great supportive card, but you have to secure him in your lineup so he can play to his strengths.

Combinations and Tactics:

I often play River Hellondale with Kelye Frendul, because he is one of the best water summoners. Apart from that you can pair River Hellondale with Alric Stormbringer so he gets one more magic attack.
Pairing River Hellondale with other magic attackers from the water splinter, like Djinn Oshannus or Nerissa Tridawn, is obviously a solid strategy.
You could pair River Hellondale also with melee attackers if you have him on the second level with his Inspire ability.
Try to use his Resurrect ability on a card with the Void Armor ability.
Try to defend him in your lineup, because otherwise River Hellondale is a simple target to kill with his low health points and he won't use his supportive abilities.
Good rulesets for River Hellondale are among others Equalizer (because of his low health points), Fog of War (he will definitly use his Resurrect ability), Holy Protection (the resurrected card will get Divine Shield again) and Weak Magic (resurrected monsters with armor perform great here).

Battle:

On the one hand in my battle the ruleset Weak Magic was active, so River Hellondale would be a good pick if I manage to resurrect a card with many armor points. And on the other hand the Fire & Regret ruleset was active, so only magic and melee attackers will perform good in this ruleset, which is a great combination for River Hellondale.
So I decided to pair River Hellondale with the Diemonshark in the first position with its high armor points and many other melee attackers in my lineup, which will profit from the Inspire ability.

My opponent chose to play the death splinter, with a little bit different strategy from mine. Unfortunately the Pelacor Bandit in my back died first, so he got resurrected by River Hellondale. But in the end I won the battle because of my high melee attackers and because of River Hellondale. GG to Hive account@chimi-russ!

Final Words:

River Hellondale is a great supportive card if you use him wisely in the right rulesets and with other cards, which profit from River Hellondale. Especially on the second level, when he gets the Inspire ability, he is a must have in your water splinter.

His lore is nice to read, but in my opinion it is nothing special there for a legendary card. But apart from this, I really like his artwork.
