I was always a fan of the energy transition with PV + Wind + Storage in Germany. But I'm starting to think it's a failure

  • 20 years building
  • ~450 billion invested
  • barely 8% of primary energy usage are covered by renewables now
  • still requires backup power plants because energy storage in that dimension is much too expensive

If we had just started building like 10-20 nuclear power plants 20 years ago, we would be C02 neutral already for years with cheaper prices (no backup plants needed).
And the waste is an exaggerated problem anyway in my opinion.
