Little Owls and other Owls are usually nocturnal animals that can usually only be seen very early in the morning or in the evening. One day I was lucky and I found this little owl in Burgenland / Austria and I could take some pictures of the bird. But since the sunlight was already very low it was difficult to get some nice quality images. Due to the high ISO it is grainy unfortunately.
The little owl is a small nocturnal bird with large eyes and a round head. It is known for its ability to catch prey from the ground and hold it in its talons. Little owl species typically have brown stripes on their bodies and a white belly. They are excellent hunters, preying on mice, insects, and small reptiles. Little owls are also unique for their high-pitched, wafting call, which they emit during mating season.
