Great Crested Grebe at the Nature Reserve - Contest: Nesting
Yesterday I spent my day at the Nature Reserve "Traun Au" near Linz for some bird photography. I only managed to photograph very few species but I am happy that I could take some more pictures of the Great Crested Grebe. And accidentially I also found a Nest of the Great Crested Grebe from that I made some pictures and then immediately gained some distance to it, so I don't disturb the birds in breeding. The Light situation was nice but I wish the birds were a little bit closer since these are cropped images at 600mm. I especially like when the birds gain trust and get closer and closer to me, in these cases the opportunity of better pictures increase a lot.
It is always very nice to watch the grebe family at lakes or at rivers. Unfortunately the courtship display of the birds is already finished and they are breeding already, I hope I can take some more pictures of the beautiful courtship display next year maybe. But it is difficult to get close to these birds during that time and you need to find the perfect spot for it.
