Dunlins looking for food in the mudd

Dunlins are regular visitors here in Austria during the bird migration in spring and autumn. On spots like the Lake Neusiedler or when the danube has a low water level due to closed power plants and only few melt water then there are some spots here also in Upper Austria where I am able to take some pictures of these cute little birds that often come in flocks. They are only migratory visitors and only stay here for resting a bit before they fly further to the south or the north depending on the time of the year. When it is summer on the northern hemisphere they live in northern Europe like Sweden, Finnland, Norway and Russia. When it is winter in our hemisphere they travel to Turkey and Saudi Arabia. The same applies to Canada and the southern Parts of the USA as well as south east Asia and Siberia.

For me it is always a short time when I am able to get some pictures of them since they only stop for several days or weeks and then you need to be ready and get some pictures at the right time. Pictures of them are usually a byproduct when I take pictures of other birds out there in the mudd.
