Hello, friends at Worldmappin. It’s a pleasure to greet you. Today, I’d like you to join me on a very simple but colorful stroll through the streets of La Asunción, the beautiful colonial capital of Margarita Island in Venezuela.

Hola, amigos de Worldmappin. Qué gusto saludarlos. Hoy quiero que me acompañen a dar un paseo muy sencillo pero lleno de muchos color por las calles de La Asunción, la hermosa capital colonial de la Isla de Margarita, en Venezuela.

While walking through this city is already a unique experience, it has now become a true open-air gallery. With these beautifulo works of art, the second edition of the “Ciudad Mural” project is coming to a spectacular close, reaching an impressive total of 32 permanent works of art throughout the capital.

Si de por sí caminar por esta ciudad es una experiencia única, ahora se ha convertido en una auténtica galería al aire libre. Con estas hermosas obras de arte, se está cerrando con broche de oro la segunda edición del proyecto "Ciudad Mural", alcanzando un impresionante total de 32 obras de arte permanentes en toda la capital.

It’s incredible to see how so many talented painters have devoted their precious time and passion to gifting us these stunning creations. For the people of Asunción, this means reclaiming our identity; and for tourism, it’s a great reason for travelers to stop, stroll, and fall in love with every corner.

Es increíble ver cómo tantos pintores llenos de talento han dedicado su valioso tiempo y su amor para regalarnos estas impresionantes creaciones. Para todo el pueblo asuntino, esto significa rescatar nuestra identidad; y para el turismo, es un motivo enorme para que los viajeros se detengan, caminen y se enamoren de cada rincón.

The epicenter of this explosion of color is located around the iconic Colonial Bridge of La Asunción. As you walk through the area, the walls tell you stories about our island.

El epicentro de esta explosión de color se encuentra en los alrededores del emblemático Puente Colonial de La Asunción. Al caminar por allí, las paredes te van contando historias de nuestra isla.

It’s impossible not to stop and admire the imposing painting dedicated to Our Lady of the Assumption against a galactic backdrop—a vivid testament to the people’s Marian devotion. In the same area, the local wildlife and marine environment have their own space. And there’s the magnificent mural depicting a huge pelican surrounded by others.

Es imposible no detenerse a contemplar la imponente pintura dedicada a Nuestra Señora de La Asunción en un fondo galáctico, una muestra viva de la fe mariana del pueblo. En la misma zona, la fauna y el entorno marino tienen su propio espacio. Y es el magnífico mural que dibuja un pelícano inmenso con otros a su alrededor.

A little further on, Tsunami's striking work stands out—a large-scale piece that catches the eye of everyone passing by, whether in a car or on foot.

Un poco más allá destaca el llamativo trabajo de Tsunami, una obra de gran formato que capta la mirada de todos los que pasan en carro o a pie.

But without a doubt, one of the pieces that attracts the most attention and is photographed the most is the one featuring the traditional fish and corals. The level of detail in the scales and the relief of the fish in the background makes you feel as if you’re right in the waters off Margarita, thanks to an impressive three-dimensional effect.

Pero, sin duda, una de las piezas que más miradas y fotografías se roba es la del pez tradicional y los corales. El nivel de detalle en las escamas y el relieve del pescado de fondo te hace sentir que estás metido en el mar margariteño gracias a un efecto tridimensional impresionante.

Each renovated facade pays tribute to traditions, local flora, women harvesters, and historical heroes such as Luisa Cáceres de Arismendi. There is even room to portray the loyalty and charisma of our canine community guardians wearing miners’ helmets.

Cada fachada intervenida es un tributo a las tradiciones, la flora, las mujeres recolectoras y los héroes de la historia como Luisa Cáceres de Arismendi. Incluso hay espacio para retratar la fidelidad y el carisma de nuestros caninos guardianes de la comunidad con cascos de minero.

Seeing how urban art honors, illuminates, and beautifies our colonial history is a truly wonderful thing that has infused our state capital with a whole new energy. Without a doubt, when local and international artists join forces, our communities shine even brighter.

Ver cómo el arte urbano respeta, llena de luz y embellece nuestra historia colonial es algo bellísimo que le ha dado una energía totalmente renovada a la capital de nuestro estado. Definitivamente, uniendo esfuerzos de artistas locales e internacionales, las comunidades brillan mucho más.
