Hello my dear #rockhivers, I hope everything goes very well in your life and we can enjoy this day dedicated to the genre that unites us Rock!馃.
Last Saturday July 13 was commemorated the "World Rock Day" and although I had a dilemma about whether to publish that day or our specuak day in Hive, I decided for the second one and took the time to study about such commemorative date.
It turns out that this date is celebrated since 1985 because it was that day where several artists gathered in two locations in the world, to perform the biggest rock concert in history that has been seen and will be seen for a long time.
Some data extracted from St. Google and X (former Twitter), were the following:
The event took place on July 13, 1985, in two cities simultaneously: Wembley Stadium (London) and John F. Kennedy Stadium (Philadelphia).
It was attended by almost 200 thousand people (the exact number cannot be known yet, due to the entry of technicians or special guests); it is estimated that 85 thousand people attended in London and 99 thousand in the USA.
The concert had the purpose of collecting funds for the region of Ethiopia because in previous years it had suffered the worst drought in its history, resulting in famine and death of the population due to lack of food and water.
It was the most widely televised event, reaching more than 165 countries and watched by more than 1 million people (although these figures will never be real as we cannot count how many people are behind the screen).
But since we came here to talk about music, if you want to have more details such as who were the artists who performed, who said no, what were their presentations, I leave you these two links for you to check them out:

What did I like?
I must clarify that by that time I was not born, so to give an opinion about an event of such magnitude or judge an artist by his performance there, would be irresponsible on my part; however, history and records speak and the conclusions are varied because some were reunited with their audience (like Queen, Ozzie, LedZepelin,U2,Sting), others were not or were not so well known, some of their performances were a disaster and like any live event, many things were missing or went wrong.
To rescue the music, I liked that regardless of the rhythm, the problems they had (many of them abused psychotropic substances), the legal problems or between bands, they all said YES, I'M COMING! That speaks very well of them; even if it was for marketing (a term that didn't exist), to gain popularity or to clear their name, they achieved their goal and that united us as a world, as humans.
Another important part was that I saw very famous artists for the time, and of course reggaeton was not heard in those days (it didn't exist either) or the typical Latin salsa, but a very big space was given to rock artists. It was a moment that marked history because it was shown on world TV what was not shown by the extravagant or judged styles of the rockers; moreover, they were the ones who gave it the special touch because the public acclaimed them and they could show that their presentations were important in the music scene.
Of the presentations that I liked the most (of the artists that I know of course), the first one was Queen馃挴. It is that being catalogued as the best presentation of the event (unanimous in both cities), is not just anything; Fred was in his strongest personal and social problems and this was like his star presentation, the one that immortalized him and made him until today one of the best rockers that have ever existed on the planet. Choosing a song is not easy, but I will go for "Bohemia Rapsody" one of my favorites and most chanted:
驴Qu茅 me gust贸?
The second performance that I really enjoyed was that of Ozzie Osbourne and his band Black Sabbath; although they had already been separated for a long time, I was delighted that they had left their differences behind and blended on stage as they did. There are criticisms about that performance, but I'll take the best and that is that before the needs of the world we can unite and be better people, at least for the minutes that the performance lasted. One song that I really liked was "Paranoid".
And not to tire because this is not a summary of the presentations (for that I left the link), if I'm talking about that day that marked the "World Rock Day", I leave you the main song of London performed by most of the artists who attended that night "Do they know it's Christmas? which was the anthem of those days, although I do not know if being on this side of the planet, but here sounded more (or is what I remember) We are the world (We are the world). Anyway, both are very significant and I think these initiatives should be taken up again:
Do they know it麓s christmas? (驴Saben que es navidad?) que fue el himno de esos d铆as, aunque no s茅 si por estar de este lado del planeta, pero ac谩 son贸 m谩s (o es lo que recuerdo) We are the world (Somos el mundo).
Unfortunately, as is human nature and not everything is perfect, many negative stories were woven around the fate of the money or the real reasons for this event.... I leave them there for your research.
And if you lived this experience, which musician did you think was the best, who did I miss in the list, what can you highlight from this event?
I read you...
