Hello friends of the community @hive-140084, today I want to talk about the figure of Valentina Tereshkova, who was the first woman to travel to space and the only one who did so alone. Valentina was born in Russia in Bolshoye Máslennikovo in 1937 into a humble family where her mother worked in a textile factory and her father worked in the fields as a tractor driver.
Valentina was fond of parachuting and that is what led her to enter the space race when the Russian space agency wanted to take a woman into space. In selecting her to occupy this position she was influenced by both her excellent attitudes during training and her origins. Her father, who died in World War II while fighting on the Finnish front, was considered a war hero.
Valentina had to go through very hard training like what all astronauts went through at that time regardless of her sex. But finally on June 16, 1963, a ship called Vostok 6 was launched into space with the only presence of Valentina Tereshkova inside it. The trip was not calm, to say the least, but Valentina was able to fulfill her mission and she circled the earth 48 times during 3 days, after which she parachuted to land in Kazakhstan, which then belonged to the Soviet Union.
This trip by Valentina Tereshkova marks a milestone in humanity but above all it is a historic moment for all women on the planet.
