Hello friends of the community hive-140084@hive-140084, Today I want to talk to you about Junko Tabei, the first woman to reach the summit of Mount Everest.
Junko Tabei was born on September 22, 1939 in Fukushima prefecture, Japan into a large family of seven siblings. From a very early age she had a love for mountaineering, ascending to different peaks in Japan. And even though her family was of humble origins, she managed to participate in multiple expeditions.

Her career as a mountaineer was long and exceptional. In 1970 she was the first woman to summit Annapurna, the tenth highest peak in the world.
In 1975 she managed to make history by being the first woman to summit Mount Everest, an achievement that will always be remembered. A demonstration that women could achieve the same challenges as men.
In her firm dedication to the mountains, she set out to crown the highest peaks of each continent and she achieved it in 1992, once again being the first woman to achieve it.

Junko Tabei was also known for her social work, founding a women's mountaineer club to promote this sport among women. And throughout her life she fought to preserve the environment that she loved so much.
Her struggle and determination to do what she liked most is an example for present and future generations.
