Hatshepsut one of the most successful queens in history ~Women Wednesdays~
Hello friends of the community @hive-140084 On this Wednesday in December I wanted to talk to you about a Queen of Egypt who had great success while she ruled and who is deeply unknown to the general public. It's about Hatshepsut.
Hatshepsut was born in Circa, estimated to have been around 1507 BC and she had both a long life and a long reign for the time in which she lived. She reigned from 1473 to 1458 BC after the death of her husband Thutmose II. Although at first she shared reign with her stepson Thutmose III, this did not last long and she gained absolute power.
Her reign was characterized by the development of large projects such as the Deir el-Bahari temple, on the western bank of the Nile, near Thebes. This funerary temple was used for the most part to promote commerce. Hatshepsut's reign was characterized by promoting trade and the wealth of her kingdom.
She was also related to trade, she dedicated herself to sponsoring expeditions to obtain resources such as ivory or incense. The best known of these was that of Punt.
She is such an unknown queen that Thutmose III, who took power upon her death, attempted to erase all memory of her reign or appropriate any of the things she did. But in recent times archaeologists have been able to find more information about her reign and her achievements.
