Hello hivians. How are you? It's Friday and I guess this will be your Christmas shopping weekend. I hope you have a great time this holiday season. These days I get a little romantic so today I wanted to talk to you about a spectacle that I love, bioluminescence.
"Bioluminescence is the process through which living organisms produce light" this would be the simple definition that we can find in any encyclopedia or Google as young people call it now.
The bioluminescence best known to everyone is probably fireflies. These beetles are very abundant and widespread throughout the world, in addition to being very spectacular when they create their light.
But there are many animals that are capable of generating light. Even some fungi are capable of generating light.
Bioluminescence is used by animals for a multitude of things, from courtship to find a mate to bait to attract prey. Monkfish is a good example of this.
The bioluminescence that I like the most is the one that occurs on some beaches due to different circumstances of marine animals. It requires water to move to generate light. So when the waves beat it is an incredible spectacle. If you are lucky enough to be able to bathe in these circumstances you will live an incredible experience when as you move everything lights up around you.
