I wrote about this coin already a couple of months ago and decided this will be the coin I want to loose my flipvirginy to.

It had everything going for it.

Well known mintage : Perth Mint

Small mintage of 15000

First in a series

Interesting and fresh theme

So from time to time I checked eBay.de to see how it is doing. There were not this many offered and they were selling but not really flying of the shelves but the collectors market is slow and not a very liquid one so patience is key.

One coindealer sold 58 for almost double what they were going at release. The bigger german dealers are already sold out or have mostly just around 5 left (yes, I checked by putting as many in the basket till they said they dont have this many).

Not great but also not bad.

Yesterday I checked eBay again to see this...

Prices way down and apparently no interest...

I had read that many others are jumping onto that coin as well with the same intention as me to sell it later for a profit, so there are a couple of scenarios I think are possible.

  1. The dealers are out now and the secondary market gets flooded

  2. The collectors market got even smaller with silver rising

  3. The collectors have their coin already as it was a good seller but did not sell out this quick that people who were interested would not be able to order one

  4. Another series like Lunar III or the new Queens Beast are the talk of the town now and again the market seems to get smaller by the minute

  5. It is to early to flip them anyway

Probably everything is true to some degree.

Am I worried? Not really. While it would not be a coin you would pick up if you want to focus on pure weight the premium was not insane.

I still believe it is an awsome piece and if the next one of the series will be as good as this one there will be new interest.
