It happens all the time. The air is a violent place many times. We can't see it but the air is rarely nice and smooth. This was just one of those times it happened. If you watch the birds flying you can notice when they hit REALLY turbulent or violent air, their wings will get battered and they will often tuck their wings and dive through it quickly or turn immediately away from it. They are our guides most often in the sky.
