Yesterday morning was a bit abnormal as @stryeyz wasn't feeling the best so ended up coming home from work to work remotely. My morning was spent on my lessons as I waited for the temps to warm and the sun to come out. I was able to plow through a bunch of Duo and Mimo CSS lessons It was after 11am when the temp was near 40F and the sun was shining nicely in the yard. I moved my truck so the bed would drain then washed it out really goo. All the grain had to get cleaned out and as much of the dirt scrubbed off as I could.
The topper got pulled from the old Yota which the topped fits the bed of it perfectly while being a bit narrow for my new Tacoma. I haven't used the topped in a few years so it was well coated in dirt and debris that had to get scrubb3d off. I let them both sit for a couple hours to dry in the sun.
After picking the boys up from school the bed and topper were well dried so the fun part began, installing it on the bed. I set it in place then marked the spots that I had to drill new holes. The bed has a rail system in it that I am able to bolt the topper, the way I figured out worked in my 05 Tacoma. The bed in my new truck is a 6 foot bed the same length as my old Yota.
I drilled holes in the plastic along the edge of the bed for the bolts to slot through.
The topper went on and after only one misplaced hole had to be re-drilled in the plastic I was able to get the bolts all installed and tightened nicely.
While the topper is almost 30 years old and is well worse for wear it fits well enough on the truck and won't leak too much. Everything will be sitting in plastic tubs in the bed for the trip so in case of rains the bins will protect from any leaks.
The topper is about 2 to 3 inches to narrow on each side of the front and only an inch to narrow on each of the back sides. Plus now the topper matches the color of my truck again instead of a red too long topper on my old white Tacoma.
Today is going to be about more trip prep, the sheep need a new bale rolled in, I need to make a big batch of tortillas for the trip, my clothes are in the wash then will be packed up, the boys have practice tonight, and I am going to work on my lessons after posting this.
