That was one big load of grain yesterday. I loaded up the boys, the trailer with a pair of empty barrels, and we headed to town. Randy had said there would likely be 8 barrels but there was 9 when I pulled up. 2 of the barrels were full of pumpkins and plums while the rest were full of grain.

I ended up putting the 2 barrels of pumpkins in the back of the truck then shoveled one of the barrels out into the others so I had an even number on the trailer. They don't lock down well with an odd number.

Once we got them all home I decided it was time to start dumping the grain elsewhere and I figured that this little area would be good to expand into. I backed the truck in and dumped all the barrels out after moving this lunk of a rock since the trailer axle bashed into it as I backed up.

I needed to dump the grain out of their pen since it is getting knee deep for them in mooshy muck from all the prior loads of grain.

I got all the barrels emptied into a small area and as usual the alpaca was on top of things nosing around.

Nice sized pile of pumpkins which the sheep started to munch right away through the fence.

After unloading the barrels I had to go about making a new pen area to enclose the new grain dump spot. I have the 12 foot pallets sitting in the area and I used 2 of them for the end and as a gate then I installed some fence posts and fencing to wrap around the end.

The pallets work nicely and are wide enough to act as a good gate that I can back the trailer through. Which is handy since I have a couple more barrels to pick up today.

As I was in the mood I hooked up the boat and moved it across the yard for the Winter so it is not right next to the driveway. It was also in the way of where I will need to drop a few trees that have died at the front of the studio. Some nice pines that will do well for firewood this year.

I walked back into the house a little before 2:00pm and saw that our local #NaNoWriMo group was on a zoom call so jumped in and joined in the sprints. It helped a lot and by 3:45 pm I had my 1700 words for the day. It started to rain about 2:30 so I had gotten my projects done just in time. We had the notorious "atmospheric river" over us for the afternoon which dumped a nice bit of rain. At least it was nice and warm in the low 60s.

I managed to get over 3000 words for the day which has my story at 45,700 words and 12,700 for November. I've gotten myself 2 days ahead of my count and I want to keep it increasing each day which will take getting about 2500 to 3000 words. The scenes are flowing fairly nicely so far and I'm finding things falling into place a bit better. I still haven't really even written about my main character yet and the point of the story. Too much ancillary stuff to get out first I think.

Today I have more grain to pickup and to drop of the 8 empties. The river of rain has moved off to the south and is dousing the Palouse and we should have mild temps for the day. Tomorrow is R's 4th birthday so we have to do a little prep for that.
