Lichens are on almost every surface around the farm. The trees, the sheds, the rocks, the bushes, the ground all have a form of lichen that grows on them. There are a large variety but I am becoming more aware of the similarities between a number of them to the point that I am starting to identify them. These are Cup Lichens of the Cladonia species and I am pretty sure that they are the chlorophaea, but with a 100+ types of Cladonia I am not 100% sure. The lichens above are growing on the base of a Fir tree near the creek.
Just up the hill from the prior tree sits a large Ponderosa Pine with this small field of Cup Lichens growing at its base. I am pretty stoked that I was able to get the focus correct on this shot since it is a single. The DOF actually seems on point.
