We actually managed to get out by 9:15am and on the road. This is what the entire day looked like. You can see below but it was FLAT, cold, windy, but surprisingly good roads.
Western ND is all about the oil and these are everywhere between Minot and Williston.
$1.99 per gallon gas! North Dakota has the cheapest gas of our trip. As with any road trip with kids this one started and continued to be a pain. 2 boys who had to stop too many times to count for potty breaks.
500 miles of this was the drive from Minot to Shelby MT. The road is almost perfectly straight the whole way and flat as can be. The whole time we saw just 2 troopers and a sheriff near Havre, otherwise it was only scattered vehicles and wide open roads.
Somewhere in NE Montana a farm had a bunch of statues and a bunch are dinosaurs. Not super huge but big enough to see from the road as we drove by.
Pretty big room we got for cheap. Being a Sunday we got 20% off and the room ended up being about the same as a smaller room in Bozeman. Seriously awesome to have the space after all the time in the car. The boys immediately began running laps and diving off the chairs to the couch.
For families I feel like these types of rooms should be far more available, more so just the space. Tiny hotel rooms really suck when on road trips with the boys.
The view out the west window is of the flags on the hill. I am thinking they are the various military branch flags but didn't see well enough.
I15 heading north towards Canada. Pretty much devoid of traffic save some rigs occasionally. With the border closed they are all that gets through.
After eating dinner we all went down to the pool and hot tub which was a very welcome end to the day.
The boys watched Sonic on J's chromebook again before bed.
I am sore and super ready to be home. Too much to do around the farm that is poking at my craw. We are driving back into 6 inches of snow and I still have to deal with the garden. I REALLY REALLY hope it warms up to melt the snow so I can pull the garden. This is going to be a shit show if I can't come spring.
Only 7 hours to get home but that needs us moving and driving so about time to wake everyone up to get our butts going before it gets too late. At least we pick up an hour.
