Here I talk about how curation rewards work, and why I prefer linear rewards, plus I find Luke 1 time in CupOfTraffic.

Hi there and welcome to my vlog, my name is Erik Gustafsson and I go by the handle @flaxz on Hive, CTPtalk and DTube.
In this video I talk about curation rewards, how they work and why I prefer them to be linear.
So curation rewards on Hive and Hive-engine is rewards that you get for upvoting posts and comments, and for Hive and most tribe tokens this is done in a non-linear way.
If you want to maximize the rewards you get by upvoting there is 2 things you need to think about, and here we will talk about Hive rewards.
First we have the voting window, and this pays the most if the vote is done on the blockchain exactly 5 minutes after the post was published, and the reward goes down before and after this point.
Secondly we have the convergent linear rewards curve, and it starts at 50% rewards just above the dust level, and then converges to about linear from a full post payout of 20 Hive, and that means the combined author and curation rewards needs to be above that to give the best rewards.
Now these 2 things together means that to maximize your Hive curation rewards you need to make the vote at exactly 5 minutes after posting, and that it gets some big votes after that to get it at least above the convergence point, the more big votes it gets the bigger your reward gets if you have timed it correctly.
Do you see where the problem is here?
What this creates is massive autovoting instead of the social way of manual curation, plus it also means that a lot of people vote on the safe posts which ususally gets a lot of high upvotes, and that creates it's own feedback, where more votes flock to those posts, and the social part gets put on the back burner.
One of the tribes on Hive-engine, maybe more, are using a linear rewards curve for their token, and that is Leofinance with their LEO token.
When voting with that it does not matter what time or how much reward a post or comment gets, the reward is the same.
And from what I have seen since they made this change does prove that it works, and that social networking and engagement is valued a lot more because of it.
This is why I prefer a linear rewards curve rather than the very technical rewards curve of Hive and most HE tokens that makes it almost a nessecity to go deep into autovoting.
We are a social network on a blockchain after all, so let us also make sure to reward being social rather than punish it.
Luke is a very alive figure, he travels around in Listopia, and you need to find him so he can help you to build your email list, it's a Scavenger Hunt from ClickTrackProfit, see the Luke Is Alive Community about how the daily contest works.

This is Luke in person.
So today I found Luke 1 time in CupOfTraffic after surfing 47 pages, and in the video above I have included a screenrecording of this, plus in the 2 screenshots below you can see the start of my hunt and then finding Luke 1 time.
This Traffic Exchange is owned and run by @russellstockley and here I promote my LCP's for Mobile Cash Formula, which is my 42 day email course on how to create an online income in a mobile friendly way.
Thank you very much for reading this post and watching the video, I hope you liked it, leave your thoughts in the coments below, and ...
Stay Awesome!
Sincerely,
Erik Gustafsson
