I think I can only agree with you on this
but I also think having many here shilling STEEM as “better than bitcoin” with no facts behind it makes our project look like just another scam filled with shillers just looking for an upvote.
With all the other things, well, Steem is able to process 10,000 transactions per second according to its whitepaper. What about Bitcoin? Well, Bitcoin since it started to be used in such a usual way showed a shitty scalability, being able to process only 7 transactions per second. But as jrcornel mentions, Bitcoin and STEEM are very different in their use, but technically, STEEM is much better than Bitcoin.
To be honest, I don't think STEEM will have problems if traffic increases incredibly, I mean: Bitcoin today had 318,000 transactions (suppose that's an average daily). If STEEM processes 10,000 transactions per second (which, in theory, it does), will it really have a problem with 318,000 transactions in one day?
And I don't think it's necessary to charge commissions in the future, in Bitcoin and other cryptos this is because you have to pay someone to do that job (validate the transactions), but in Steem the witnesses (who do that job) receive the money directly from the reward pool.
Although, in what you say about decentralization and security you are quite right, the number of nodes here is is really small compared to Bitcoin, but I think it is here when we test the PoB that is so much mentioned :)
RE: Steem - It's been a while since we've seen this!
