I'm a user that will go anywhere the community goes, so, as you should know, my place is Hive and I will be pleased to give my contribution so that all together we can make Hive go much further and be one of the strongest and most incredible projects that the crypto community has ever seen.

At the beginning of the year I held the first official chess tournament sponsored by Steem, this is an initiative that sought to promote Steem through the use of chess, my idea was that the chess community of Venezuela could enter Steem and see the opportunities that the blockchain could bring to their lives. This initiative had a really incredible beginning, the first event aroused the interest of many participants and an official partnership was achieved with the chess association of the state of Nueva Esparta, that is, the association is completely interested in collaborating with Steem and will work so that the project can be implemented in the other chess associations in the country. The final goal was to make the FVA (Venezuelan Chess Federation) implement Steem in every event held at national level, a really incredible scenario and that without any doubt was going to be something that would transform Steem in Venezuela.

But we all know what happened

Steem became something I never imagined, daring to block content through the API or, now blocking user funds is something hard to believe since I never thought it would come to this, I think Justin Sun has no limits to screw up more, so, I'm not going to work hard for Steem so that at any time my content or my account can be blocked just for thinking differently.

It's a little hard for me because I've been at Steem for almost 2 years, it's not that long compared to other users or big investors, but as a 17 year old, it's a considerable amount of time in my life and I gave a personal value to Steem and the time I dedicated to the community, that's why I want to fully commit to Hive since here is the community I would like to work for and help grow.

New plans

First of all: This initiative will no longer be dedicated to Steem (I guess that was clear enough)

So, without any doubt, all the events that will take place in the future will be promoting Hive, the partnership achieved between Steem and the chess association of the state of Nueva Esparta will be changed, I will communicate with the head of the chess association to change the logos and names already established previously (which is not so difficult).

The project will still be active as long as we manage to get the support of the community. Currently, due to the world situation by the COVID-19, it is not possible to carry out face-to-face chess events, so I will not be able to carry out face-to-face events for now, so there is enough time to organize everything and carry out a first chess tournament integrating Hive.

What is this initiative about?

This initiative seeks to grow the community by integrating Hive into the Nueva Esparta state chess community (first phase). The first step was to establish a relationship between the Nueva Esparta state chess association, the official body that carries out FIDE-endorsed chess events in the state. Once this goal has been achieved, the idea is to have all the people who actively participate in these events start to join Hive to talk about their competitive experiences and start interacting with the chess community of Hive. In this way, their first experience at Hive will be enjoyable and the more they interact in the community, the more they will learn about Hive and thus become integrated into other communities and projects that make life here. This is a bit of a superficial explanation, but, I hope you will understand my idea.

How do I plan to do this?

Because these events are organized by an official entity of my state, we have different partnerships with newspapers, designers and hotels to organize chess events, the main thing to achieve our goal is to make talks, register Hive in the official documents and posters of all events and create tournaments dedicated 100% to Hive (we can even make tournaments where the person must register in Hive to participate).

At the very least, what we seek to offer is:

  • Talks about Hive in each event
  • Newspaper articles about Hive or small inclusion of Hive in all news articles of the events.
  • Official partnership between Hive and the Nueva Esparta State Chess Association
    • Inclusion of Hive in all the chess association's social media
    • Inclusion of Hive in all social media of representative people like the international arbiter and head of the Nueva Esparta state chess association, Ulises Eduardo Hernandez Bermudez (uliseshb@uliseshb, yep, he has a Hive account)
  • Include ALL the chess community of the Nueva Esparta state in Hive

There are many plans in mind, including the idea of creating a competitive team to represent the state of Nueva Esparta in national competitions in Venezuela and international competitions outside the country, creating uniforms that represent Hive and the projects that decide to support the initiative, but while the world situation is paralyzed, I prefer to save these kinds of ideas for later.

Why do I think this will benefit Hive?

Because of the great scope that this initiative has. This initiative is something that can be expanded to an entire country, the head of the chess association of the state of Nueva Esparta is vice president of the Venezuelan chess federation, we discussed the idea of implementing Hive in national events as important as the national school or national checks for international competitions, currently this can make a lot of people can see Hive for the first time and start to join through these events.

An example of similar work is Dash, Dash is a crypto-currency that carried out an incredibly large advertising campaign and is currently accepted in over 800 stores nationwide, Dash has a much larger market than Hive and Steem combined, but that does not mean that similar initiatives can be done with fewer resources. Without a doubt I am willing to make this first initiative and take the first step to work on something that can bring an incredible benefit to Hive, so this is my contribution to the community.

Who am I?

My name is Jeancarlos Garcia, I have been a chess player for 5-6 years and an enthusiast of cryptomonies for 3-4 years, I met Steem 2 years ago and I completely loved the community, so a couple of months ago I started working on ideas to make small contributions to the community by doing what I could and, I am completely willing to continue working for it. I'm not a developer or have advanced knowledge of any specific programming language (I'd say that I know the basics of programming and I can understand some code), I know that nowadays it's important to have developers working on Hive's code as there are things to improve and update as soon as possible, but I also think that we should support initiatives that bring new users in a massive way to the community, so I want to be one of those users who are working on making Hive a place with many more people and the world starts to know about us, probably thanks to all the noise we've made on Twitter we've become a little more known, but, we're still incredibly small compared to other projects, we have to grow and I'm completely interested in doing it this way.

My chess trainer is the international arbiter Ulises Hernandez Bermudez (uliseshb@uliseshb), he is the head of the Nueva Esparta state association and also vice-president of the Venezuelan chess federation, he is a representative figure of national and international chess and has official titles recognized by FIDE (International Chess Federation). Last year I told him about the idea of implementing Steem to carry out official chess events thanks to the support of the community, since then I have been discussing the idea with him and thanks to the support given by the community, 25 days ago we were able to carry out the first chess event promoted by Steem, it was an incredible and exciting first event of which I am quite proud, it was the first look that the chess community of the state of Nueva Esparta gave to Steem and, now I want to show them how incredible Hive is.
