Perfect Painting

I was clearing out an old room filled with antiques where there were a number of paintings amongst other bits and bobs, but this particular painting really stood out, so much so we decided to hang it in our house. Now, the moral thing to do when one is presented with such a lovely well painted piece is to research the artist, as it was marked 1943, when World War Two was raging. I wondered what was going through the mind of the artist, as 1943 was a big year for the Dutch resistance during the war. How can someone paint such an elegant piece when the world was collapsing around him/her? I searched as deep as I could possibly go and couldn't find any artist named S.Jansen, so this painter will have to remain a mystery for now. Let's take a look at this treasure.

Attention to detail

I love the way the artist has captured the gleam that some metalware gives off when the lighting is right, great job.

Wow, to think that this painting is 75 years old and stems from a year when Europe was a mess, so it's surprising that this is in such remarkable condition, which I'm sure is testament to a good antiques dealer.

Thanks for taking the time to view this post.
