And quietly, the absence of any precedent for compensating this kind of work has also devalued all work, by everyone, across the ecosystem.

Reminds me of a lesson learned when I was 15 years old and working at Levine's Dept. Store.

If you don't know the value of your work, someone else will decide for you. I didn't get my raise so I quit and got a better deal. !LOLZ

I was getting interested in the read until I got to this part;

my account during this period were pass-through for ecosystem initiatives: the largest being a Binance

I had a bad experience on Hive where I did some testing for an dApp and I had a 2-fa-k moment where I entered the wrong credentials and it didn't take long to see that Hive was being taken from my account and being sent to a Binance account. That process of moving funds from Hive to Binance was/is TooFuckeh and makes it too easy for crooks to take advantage of Newbies. There are a lot of things about Hive that turn people away. This incident encouraged me create some principles and beliefs for my project. Don't Lie, Don't Cheap and Don't Steal. I see Hivers with high reputation causing a lot of grief which is extremely toxic for tribal communities. And of Hive community as a whole.

I want to be shockingly clear that 90,000 HBD doesn't price labour at market rates. (It doesn't even try to come close.)

My accountant calls that sweat equity and you don't get to claim it when you sell your wares.

Following along, your read reminded of me of when I worked for NB Power

I worked for them for 32+ years to the point where they paid me enough to leave. Up to retirement package time they paid me enough to stay. While there I negotiated 2 leaves of absent without pay. First was 2 years and the second was 10 months. Both times I was guaranteed to be paid at the same classification I had when I left. In fact, NB Power did not have an Entrepreneur Leave Policy so I created one, it got approve and as far as I know today, it still exists.

that almost no one will think it’s really “fair,”

Fair or Fine?

I'm thinking Fine over Fair. Fine because that suggest quality and from what I have learned from your deliverables, they are always of high quality. I am happy to support your proposal if it is not a retroactive proposal.

Now to be Fair, that suggest justice to me. In my experience, I saved the company many millions, worked many more hours than I was officially paid for and they are still using my ideas and I was never compensated. No justice. But, that's is ok because I would not have been able to reach my potential without said injustice.

and part of that is on me because my default is to just put my head down and do the work instead of posting at length about what I could maybe do

Just about every day, since I joined Hive in March 2023, I observe the many earning pathways Hivers choose and I see much earning based on content that seems of very little value. I often look at the Hiver identifying properties and make comparisons. Blogs with no comment getting many upvotes with much higher rewards from the pool while other blogs with much engagement receiving little from the same community reward pool.

It's a conservative number

Better to be more liberal in this timeline.

With due respect, I wonder if your proposal, "As-Is" concurs with;

"To put the cart before the horse"

A well defined strategy comes first and then you look at tactics to ensure justifiable compensation.

One of my career was an IT Quality Assurance Specialist for a dept. of 120+ Information System Professional(ISP).

I suggest making a proposal for an ISP position for Hive.

I would be more than happy to support such a role. Or, make it a Quality Assurance Specialist.

There seems to be a culture on Hive that is almost anti-corporation or anti-centralizing. Like a religion, or cult. I bet you over 70% of Hivers earning from Hive activities do not understand economics or have very little business sense. Hive needs to be more inclusive at the top and allocate funding for Hiver(s) to perform Roles and Responsibilities that are critical in achieving the highest quality possible in everything we do on our beloved platform.

Lastly, I noticed your Hive Token Wallet doesn't include many project tokens.

Why is that? I have an idea. I have read many comments from Hivers that do not think much of any layer 2 tokens. I see project tokens at the root of Hive economics.

Just thought of another role for a Hive QA specialist. Create a well defined template for layer 2 token project proposal. May as well include the creation of quality standards for DHF proposals. Could even classify the DHF proposal so you can better accommodate small projects.

Thank you very much for everything you have done and continue to do. I am reluctant to support a retroactive compensation but I would be more than happy to support a well defined paid position going forward.
