Sunrise in Similan islands in Thailand. These 7 islands have been declared national parks and they are in pristine conditions. The sand is the softest I’ve ever stepped foot on and the water is a shade of blue I didn’t know existed. The Thai government allows you to camp there for a few nights with proper permit. There are no roads on the island and only a few sustainably built structures that the government uses to serve meals to the people that are camping. To watch the sunrise, we hiked through the jungle in complete darkness, with strange, creepy jungle noises all around us. At a certain point, we had to do some intense rope climbing up a steep and muddy hill in the darkness, completely unaware that this magical ocean view was waiting. I think this has been my favorite sunrise to date.
