A stroll down the pedestrian-only, cobblestone streets on Lago Maggiore.

We got our first traffic ticket in Italy in this little town the very first week of moving here. Well, kind of, because the ticket actually arrived in the mail in true Italian style 4 months after this particular visit, with no explanation whatsoever and we couldn't even recall where we were and why we were getting this ticket. So we took a trip down the memory lane and deducted that we were in Lago Maggiore at that time. Then, we remembered exactly what had happened:

On that day, we were trying to find a place to park the car. Mr. Googlemaps told us to enter this adorable, cute little town full of cobblestone streets, so we did. Then the app directed us to turn into a VERY VERY VERY narrow street full of people. There was no room for both people and our car, so the people had to literally position their bodies against the medieval walls of the buildings to prevent from being crushed by our car. At this point why are so deep into this street; it's impossible to reverse and what's worse is that the next suggested turn appears to be even more catastrophic. I just rolled the window down and my eyes were desperately begging for help.

"Where are you trying to go?"- asked one of the poor, squashed pedestrians very patiently.
"We just want to get out of here! Help us please!"- I said

The people were so kind and helped us get out of there without causing any damage. Apparently, only residents can enter the town center by car but we were new to Italy and driving around here so we had not paid attention to the sign. I would love to say that this was the last time we made this mistake, but that would not be the truth ;)
