I Don’t Know Its Name (Alias the World)

During 1999 and 2000, English Decca produced reissues of all Verve/Decca Caravan catalogs. In addition, in 2002 the group received endorsement from Stuart Maconi on his BBC 6 Music radio program Freak Zone and toured the United States and Canada, attending the North East Art Rock Festival in Bethelen (near New York). That same year appeared Green Bottles for Marjorie: The Lost BBC Sessions, composed of recordings the band made for BBC Radio from 1968 to 1972, and Live at the Fairfield Halls, 1974, which features a performance at London’s Fairfield Halls theater in 1974.

Then Dave Sinclair left the group again and was replaced a second time by Jan Schelhaas, giving a new impulse to Caravan, which resulted in The Unauthorized Breafast Item in 2003 with great critical acceptance. During 2004 and 2005 the band made a world tour, including a concert at the Bloombury Theater in London to commemorate its 35th anniversary. After participating in the Isle of Wight Festival, the group performed in Germany for the last time due to Richard Coughlan’s ill health. In 2007 the double album The Show of Our Lives was released with interventions by the band on the BBC’s Top Gear radio program between 1968 and 1975.

In 2010, Caravan rejoined to record a concert at Metropolis Studios for the ITV television network with Mark Walker on drums and percussion, which appeared on a double DVD the following year. In 2011, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the launch of the legendary In the Land of Gray and Pink, Universal Records put on sale a deluxe box, which animated the group to rehearse the songs from the album, play at festivals across Europe and make a small tour in the United Kingdom. In 2013 they did something similar for the 40th anniversary of For Girls Who Grow Plump in the Night and Coughlan died of pneumonia at 66 years of age. In 2014 the band led the RoSfest festival in Pennsylvania (United States) and published Paradise Filter thanks to a fundraising campaign by PledgeMusic (an online music platform). Since then, Caravan continues touring all over the world.
