Hello dear friends, I hope you are all feeling very well on this Saturday, a weekend to rest or to work on creative things, I have done the latter with the purpose of participating once again in the weekly Splinterlands contest, thank you to the Jewelry community that opens its doors to share my creations oriented to the creatures of this game. For this week's contest, I chose the character Unicorn Mustang, a very powerful horse that looks like the Ferrari horse, a real beast. I carved it out of mahogany wood and turned it into a protective collar. I show here step by step how I did it, I hope you like it!
Hola queridos amigos, espero que todos se encuentren muy bien en este día de sábado, fin de semana para descansar o para trabajar en cosas creativas, yo he hecho esto último con el propósito de participar una vez más en el concurso semanal de Splinterlands, gracias a la comunidad de Jewelry que abre sus puertas para poder compartir mis creaciones orientadas a las criaturas de este juego. Para el concurso de esta semana el elegido al personaje Unicorn Mustang, un equino muy poderoso que se ve como el caballo de ferrari, toda una bestia, lo he realizado tallado en madera caoba y lo he convertido en un collar protector. I cut a piece of mahogany wood 6 centimeters long by 4 centimeters wide, after cutting I cleaned and polished it a little with sandpaper so I could draw the silhouette of the Unicorn which I did from the left profile. I did the drawing with a graphite pencil and to carve the wood I used two stationery cutters, one with a large blade and the other with a smaller sharp blade.
Corté un trozo de madera caoba de 6 centímetros de largo por 4 centímetros de ancho, luego de cortar limpié y pulí un poco con papel de lija para así poder dibujar la silueta del Unicornio el cual lo hice de perfil izquierdo. El dibujo lo hice con lápiz de grafito y para tallar la madera utilicé dos cutter de papelería uno de hoja grande y el otro con una hoja afilada más pequeña.

I started by cutting and carving the lower part of the figure, when I cut the wood, the lower part was a little thicker and although I reduced it a little it was still difficult to carve, so I did this first step because I estimated that it would take longer.
Comencé cortando y tallando la parte inferior de la figura, cuando corté la madera, la parte inferior quedó un poco más gruesa y aunque la reduje un poco aún era difícil de tallar, por lo que hice este primer paso porque calculé que tardaría más.

Next I begin to carve the upper part of the head and neck, where the hairs of the unicorn are, here I was more patient since when making these parts they are very easy to break, so with patience and time, little by little I made them . In this way I also advanced until I could make his ears and finally the horn that distinguishes him from an ordinary horse.
Seguidamente comienzo a tallar la parte superior de la cabeza y cuello, donde están los pelos del unicornio, aquí fui más paciente ya que al hacer estas partes son muy fáciles de que se rompan, así que con paciencia y tiempo, poco a poco fuí haciéndolas. Así también fui avanzando hasta que pude hacer sus orejas y por último el cuerno que lo distingue de un caballo ordinario.

I continue with the rest of the drawing until I complete the silhouette, here you can better appreciate the work. Until this point I didn't know if I was doing the Unicorn Mustang or the dragon from Mortal Kombat hehehe.
Continúo con el resto del trazo del dibujo hasta completar la silueta, aquí se puede apreciar mejor el trabajo. Hasta este punto no sabía si estaba haciendo al Unicorn Mustang o el dragón de Mortal Kombat jejeje

After making the silhouette I began to carve towards the interior of the figure, paying attention to the details of the face and drawing some silhouettes of the hair, because it was a small piece it was somewhat complicated, but once finished I began to sand and polish the entire piece .
Despues de hacer la silueta comencé a tallar hacia el interior de la figura, poniendto atención a los detalles del rostro y dibujar algunas siluetas del cabello, por se runa pieza pequeña fue algo complicado, pero una vez terminado comencé a lijar y a pulir toda la pieza.

Once the piece was clean, I gave it a bath of protective varnish, sanded it with a softer sandpaper for polishing and then another bath of varnish, finally I placed the necklace and that was how it was finished.
Una vez limpia la pieza le di un baño de barníz protector, lijé se juevo con una lija más suave para pulir y luego otro baño más de barniz, por último coloqué el collar y así quedó finalizado.
What did you think of the result? I wanted to make it complete but the size of the wood didn't help me much, there was only the right size to make the silhouette, but I really liked the result, especially because this wood turns more reddish when I put the protective varnish on it. Qué les ha parecido el resultado? quise hacerlo completo pero el tamaño de la madera no me ayudó mucho, solo quedaba el tamaño justo para hacer la silueta, pero me gustó muchísimo el reusltado, especialmente porque esta madera se torna más rojiza cuando le coloco el barníz protector. Espero que les haya gustado, este ha sido mi aporte para el concurso de esta semana, me despido hasta pronto..
