I have always been a fan of Michael Jackson, and now, thanks to technology, seeing one of the best videos in history, re-edited in better quality, has made me very happy, despite the fact that this video is almost 40 years old, you cannot hide how good he was, both in music, costumes and choreography, without a doubt something that only the king of pop could achieve. Now, when there is so much nonsense that is called music, seeing this of Michael Jackson is very refreshing, I took a screenshot of the most exciting moment of the video, when Michael transforms into a zombie and his big eyes only remain as protagonists and the legendary dance. Hola queridos amigos dibujantes e ilustradores, hoy quiero enseñarles mi último dibujo, hace poco tiempo se volvió a estrenar el videoclip de Michael Jackson "Thriller" en formato 4K , la verdad que ha sido algo fantástico. Siempre he sido fanático de Michael Jackson, y ver ahora gracias a la tecnología uno de los mejores videos de la historia, re-editado en una mejor calidad me ha hecho muy feliz, a pesar de casi 40 años que tiene este video no se puede ocultar lo bueno que fue, tanto en la música, como el vestuario y la coreografía, sin duda algo que solo el rey del pop podría lograr. Ahora, cuando hay tanta cosa sin sentido que se le llama música, ver esto de Michael Jackson es muy refrescante, hice una captura del momento más emocionante del video, cuando Michael se transforma en zombie y sus grandes ojos solo quedan como protagonistas y comienza el baiule legendario. Espero que les guste este dibujo.
PROCESS
As is obvious, I did not choose another color of paper than black cardboard, since the aesthetics of the drawing is dark. So I took my dying white color hehehe to draw the silhouette, using simple steps like a circle for the middle of the head and a vertical line that divides the circle, these lines are used for the proportion of the face, once delimited then I draw the nose, eyes and mouth and also the ear that looks visible.
Como es obvio no escogí otro color de papel que cartulina negra, ya que la estética del dibujo es oscura. Así que tomé mi moribundo color blanco jejeje para dibujar la silueta, utilizando los pasos simples como un circulo para la mitad de la cabeza y una linea vertical que divide el círculo, estas líneas sirven para la proporción del rostro, una ves delimitado entonces dibujo la naríz, ojos y la boca y también la oreja que se ve visible.
The next step is the magic of this moment: the eyes. Michael Jackson's makeup was perfect, so perfect that I think John Carpenter took it as a reference for the aliens in the 1988 movie "The Live". So I drew those eyes with a lot of white and the retina with a lot of black, leaving the reflection of light making them with paint. Also little by little I was painting the eye socket, since his face is at the point where the dead skin is still attached to the skeleton and has that horrible color. I did it with mixes between blue, gray and dark green. I was also putting a green base all over my face that will later become paler.
El paso siguiente es la mágia de este momento: los ojos. El maquillaje de Michael Jackson estuvo perfecto, tan perfecto que pienso que Jhon Carpenter lo tomó como referencia para los alien de la película "The Live" de 1988. Así que dibuje esos ojos con bastante blanco y la retina con bastante color negro, dejando el reflejo de luz haciéndolos con pintura. También poco a poco fui pintanto la cuenca de los ojos, ya que su rostro esta en el punto en que la piel muerta esta aun pegada al esqueleto y tiene ese color horrible. Lo hice con mazclas entre azul, gris t verde oscuro. Tambien fui poniendo por todo el rostro una base color verde que luego se irá tornando más pálido.
The next step is to start painting the face, and give contrast to that green color of the makeup that makes us think of the skin of a zombie, so I use a green that has a little brown tone, so in a scale we can use colors light brown and also ocher yellow. For the part of the shadows and the divisions of the face I don't use black, but I use a shade of navy blue, which would be the degradation of the green color.
El siguiente paso es comenzar a pintar el rostro, y darle contraste a ese color verde dle maquillaje que nos hace pensar en la piel de un zombie, así que utilizo un verde que tiene un tono un poco marron, asi que en una escala podemos usar colores cafe claro y también amarillo ocre. Para la parte de las sombras y las divisiones de la cara no uso color negro, sino que utilizo un tono de azul marino, que sería la degradación del color verde.
Then I am making the green color of the face paler, also clarifying with the white color, and soft pastel, this is how I get that tone. Next I make part of the collar and the red leather vest that he is wearing in the iconic video. I paint the hair with a black marker and I make the background with blue with some diffused lights to finish the drawing.
Luego voy haciendo el color verde del rostro más pálido aclarando también con el color blanco, y pastel suave, de esta forma es que consigo ese tono. Seguidamente hago parte del cuello y el chaleco de cuero de color rojo que lleva puesto en el video tan icónico. Pinto el cabello con marcador de color negro y le hago el fondo con color azul con unas luces difuminadas para finalizar el dibujo.
FINAL WORK
In this way the drawing was finished, Michael Jackson really marked a before and after in the culture of pop music, with his incredible dance steps. That drawing is also a tribute to someone I have considered a great idol. De esta manera quedó finalizado el dibujo, realmente Michael Jackson marcpo un antes y un después en la cultura de la música pop, con su pasos de bailes increíbles. Ese dibujo también es un homenaje a alguien que he considerado como un gran ídolo .
