Welcome to Taiwan No. 1 Xing Fu Tang Setapak Boba Shop in Taman Danau Kota, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. I was here with my friend khimgoh@khimgoh who knew I was looking for a place to have drinks with friends for tasteem@tasteem.

This spot is also the favorite of her staff at work, and so she got drinks for all of them to take back.

Khim and I were both shocked at the prices. If not for her generosity, I would only be telling you about how this place smelled, which is like heaven.

You can sit outside, go to seating in the back, or get your drink for takeaway. We did a bit of all while the people at Khim's office sent in their orders by text.

Xing Fu Tang has a steady stream of customers at 2:30 in the afternoon.

The menu sign did not photograph well in the light. Everything is about 12 RM (USD $3).

The staff all told me to get the "fire drink" if I had not tried it before. And so I did.

You have a nice clean and breezy place to sit and have your drink here in the back.

IMG_20190826_142930_HDR.jpg

This is where you are even though really in Malaysia.

Standing by the open back door and looking to the front.

To pass time, you can get your fortune told here. Though it looks empty, this area had a continual crowd of people wanting to know what their future would hold.

Pick a stick from this bucket. The number on it will lead you to the right box where your fortune will be told.

IMG_20190826_143115.jpg

This man is helping me find the Chinese number 8 and not letting go of his drink!

IMG_20190826_143111.jpg

My fortune might be talking about my love affair with sugar, as there is no man in my life this could possibly describe.

IMG_20190826_143141.jpg

The TV is on repeat with the opening ceremony for this shop, and though my photos do not do it justice, I wanted to remember this.

I like my Chinese lion photo for impressionism.

Oranges are in here and the celebrants are poking them.

IMG_20190826_143453.jpg

The lion is doing what??? to the orange basket.

The bobas (tapioca balls) are cooking and giving off a lovely scent. The taste and smell of molasses are two of my favorite things. I am in the right spot.

IMG_20190826_142517_HDR.jpg

A wooden box of brown sugar fills shakers.

IMG_20190826_144303.jpg

Firing the sugar layer.

IMG_20190826_142442_HDR.jpg

The metal ring protects the plastic cup from the blow torch.

IMG_20190826_142446_HDR.jpg

Ahh...

IMG_20190826_142453_HDR.jpg

Leftover sugar. What happened to this? I want it to take home.

IMG_20190826_142509_HDR.jpg

Full fat milk on top.

IMG_20190826_144347.jpg

"What's this!?"

"Cream," he tells me. OMG...

IMG_20190826_144403.jpg

The two on the right are already fired.

IMG_20190826_144434.jpg

All the steps are shown here. The cup on the right is getting the brown sugar layer added now.

I do not have photos of me drinking this, since I was like a wild animal by that time. The molasses-y taste, creamy richness, and succulent bobas where very satisfying and put me directly into a coma. All thumbs up, but I really do not like the price!
