It is in the bible belt (which is one of the reasons i moved there) and plenty of religious folk in GA, but just about everyone drinks and cheats there. Also about 20 years ago, GA was a blue state. It may become blue again because of birth rates, immigration, and public policy. There are plenty of blue minorities that keeps all the fraud brewing in the Fulton and dekalb county administration and counter chapters of state agencies (courts, prosecutors, etc). But much of religion in the public political sphere is just for show for electability in some parts. For example Cobb County placed stickers on biology textbooks stating something to the effect that evolution is just a theory-got sued and settled. But then they go on to deny catholic inmates access to a priest and the Eucharist failing to recognize catholicism as a religion, and refusing to honor the religious diets of inmates and refused to settle....who mind you probably did nothing wrong to get in jail. And a few years ago the Romans 13 loving federal appellate court ruled an independent county agency (as defined by the state constitution and state courts) was a state entity [and thus entitled to sovereign immunity], and found that the sheriff can get away with starving Christians on a religious diet. Even "pro-life" representative bob barr was allegedly shopping around for who provided the cheapest abortions. Religion to wonderboy William Pryor (who may have modeled nude for gay mags when he was younger) and others is just a cheap tool to gain power (a jurist proclaiming they are opposed to roe v wade instantly becomes a darling to republicans) , even to the point of him being named one of the original Trump 3 person pick list to the SCOTUS. His true colors of flipflopping in gay/trans cases during the late Obama years, his and his love of law enforcement, the state, and money over religious rights in recent years will likely undermine his ambitions. Pryor was also the AG who prosecuted Roy Moore for refusing to remove the 10 commandments monument. So he's not a true federalist in that sense; he could have simply chose to invoked the state's sovereign immunity to nullify the federal courts ruling.
When the last governor (I forget his name) vetoed the religious restoration act, he did so because he loved the corporate money coming into the state more than he did peoples religious practices. Now Hollywood is trying to see if Georgia loves money or reversing roe v wade more, because the state has sold out the people's religious rights in the past for money.
